Chapter 11: The First Date

"What is this place?” Zoe asked as they arrived at a small, hidden restaurant.

The restaurant’s sign was covered in vines, as was most of the restaurant. The warm air created a slight mist on the leaves hiding the sign. It was late August, and although there was a breeze, it was warm. The leaves moved with the rhythm of the air, gently allowing the name of the restaurant to be seen.

The Trattoria.

The restaurant was Italian, and Zoe loved pasta. Her favorite dish was gnocchi, preferably with gorgonzola sauce, although many restaurants didn’t offer it. When in a bind, she would always order a regular cream sauce.

It was almost like Dylan knew that this would brighten her day, which was already looking pretty bright.

Dylan smiled at her as if gauging her excitement. As they walked side by side towards the small front door, Dylan slowly reached for her hand.

Zoe allowed his fingers to touch hers, but she soon after pulled away.
