"Sovereigns?" The throne sitting woman exclaimed in confusion.
"Yes, O'mighty Empress, Sovereigns. All mighty beings governing the laws of this world from beyond our dimension," The kneeling figure in the shadowy thrown room spoke calmly, "We've gotten a notice from one of them, the Sovereign of wind, Alvera Miaphyria."
"What does she want us to do?" The Empress leaned forward resting both elbows on her knees, a curious gaze beaming down on the still kneeling figure.
"They want us to assist them in the extermination of the Sovereign of Sovereigns, Ethan Wyrus, the Supreme Sovereign of Time and Space."
"And why can't they do it themselves?" The Empresses gaze turned more and more intense for every moment.
"Because if they descend upon earth, the divine laws set by the founder of the universe will punish them severely. The Sovereign of Sovereigns was kicked out from the upper dimension simply for the reason that he broke the three only rules existing for the Sovereigns of Sovereigns. His power has been greatly diminished to the point that only a fraction of his true power remains."
The kneeling figure felt the pressure rising as a few beads of sweat rolled down his chin before dropping down on the floor with a silent 'drip'.
The Empress fell into a silent thinking, simulating the eventual consequences of not listening to those self proclaimed 'Sovereigns', but also the risks of going after this 'Sovereign of Sovereigns' guy. Many moments passed before she straightened her back, clasping the glove-clad hands in her lap. A dangerous red light burning in her eyes. She tapped the armrest on the throne, a figure manifesting from what looked like thin air. The Empress leaned in close and whispered,
"Summon the heads of the number Zero squads."
The shadow-dressed figure nodded in response before disappearing into the air. The Empress turning towards the kneeling figure,
"Rise. Stay in contact with the Sovereign of Winds, tell her that we're accepting the mission but only if the reward will suffice a monarch of my position." A sinister grin spreading across her face as the flames in her eyes continued to burn brighter and brighter.
The kneeling figure rose from the ground, still with its head in slight bow.
"I shall fulfill your orders with pride O'mighty Empress."
"Dismissed." The figure sternly turned around, walking with a steady rhythm towards the large stone doors at the end of the dark room. The Empress raised her hand, violet energy racing down her arm from her brain out into the tip of her fingers. Far away on the other side of the room, the massive stone doors began radiating with the same violet energy before shooting outwards without a sound. The figure continued forwards past the doors which silently closed behind him, leaving the Empress alone to her thoughts.
On the inside, the Empress unsheathed her sword, holding it in front of her face. The moonlight reflecting itself off the surface of the sword.
"Looks like we're going to taste blood again after so long my love."
The sword brimmed to the top with violet energy, shaking like it had its own soul. In the reflection off the sword, the Empress could be seen, an expression filled with the longing for blood competing with a raging storm of red-violet flames in her eyes. An emotionless and heartless laughter filled the empty room.
"Sovereigns..?" Diana looked at Ethan with a confused, yet, shocked look on her delicate face, "No. No I haven't."
Inwards, Ethan sighed in relief, thinking to himself, 'This makes it a lot less complicated.'
The turn of emotions would disturb anyone analyzing Ethan's brain. Now, he almost seemed to be excited?
"Many many years ago, I was the first to ascend from this dimension. Having mastered the fundamental laws of my power allowed me to pass through the dimensional fabric and reach the upper dimension. I stayed there for tenths of years, alone, in an all white space, before deciding to explore the other dimensions," Ethan cleared his throat before continuing, "Earth is a part of the seven great dimension, they are the so called 'main dimensions'. Beneath them, you have sub-dimensions and above you have the single upper dimension. Earth is the weakest of the seven main dimensions, which puts restrictions on anyone who tries to descend from the upper dimension.
"It was first after 78 years that the second person ascended. It happened as I was meditating, trying to reach a new level of understanding about my power when I felt the heat in the closest vicinity rise abruptly. I opened my eyes to see a large, pitch black fireball fly towards my body with frightening speed. First, I was confused. Who knew fire could take the color of black?
"As the fireball raced towards me, I raised my hand, blue energy hissing towards the fire as a cat hissing towards another cat. I grabbed the oxygen in the surrounding air with my hand, dampening the level with the help of my power. The fire put itself out as it burned away on the miniscule amount of reaming oxygen, just before it hit my face, the fireball dissolved into thick black smoke. After it had diminished lightly, I could make out a figure standing beneath me, a shocked face painting the slick, beige skin.
'Who are you?'
"I stepped down from the one piece of furniture in this white space, my throne. Dropping through the air and landing with a silent 'thud' in front of the newcomer, eyeing him up and down.
'Let me ask you again. Who. Are. You?' My voice seeping with the same authority a god would show towards his believers.
"The newcomer took a big gulp, his expression showing that he had greatly underestimated my prowess.
"It was at that moment the sounds of breaking glass resounded throughout the entire space. Looking up, I got blinded by the pure golden light shining down from a hole in the dimensional fabric. I started to fly upwards, drawing upon the entirety of my ascended powers, a sickening aura raging around me, spreading out in the endless space.
'Calm it.'
"A deep voice made me come to a grinding halt as I continued looking with a stern face towards the hole above me. The voice seeped of an even greater authority than mine, shutting down any thoughts of resistance.
'I shall bestow upon you, Ethan, the title Sovereign of Sovereigns and the surname of Wyrus. Your understanding of your power is slotted into the fourth highest class, the pseudo Sovereign realm. You shall also take the man beneath you as your disciple. Guide him well and he shall assist you when you need him the most.'
"With those words the voice disappeared, the hole disappearing with it."
Ethan took a deep breath, just the thought of how powerless he felt in front of that all mighty figure shaking him to his core.
Diana sat in silence, not knowing how she should react.
"So you're that guy..?" She met Ethan's gaze across the fireplace.
"Yes. I am Ethan Wyrus, the Sovereign of Sovereign, now the Supreme Sovereign of Time and Space."
Diana gasped in shock, a slight trembling barely visible in her lower lip.
"Then how come you're down here?" Diana couldn't restrain herself anymore, asking what had filled her mind since she got to know the true identity of the man before her.
"There exists certain laws in the upper dimension, three of which directly applied to my existence. If a person comprehended these laws, they could use them against me without risking divine punishment and that's exactly what my disciples went behind my back to do," Ethan's words came out with such animosity it sent a chill down the spine of Diana, "They used the laws against me, limiting the usage of my powers. After that it was a piece of cake for them to beat me unconscious and send me down here, to Earth.
"And I'm still working on a way to get rid of the shackles holding me down."
Ethan rose from the ground, walking out from the camp without a word more. Diana chose not to follow him, instead, she went inside her small tent, laying her pillow and blanket on the ground before cuddling up, eyes still wide open, her mind racing, trying to wrap it around the insanity of Ethan's words.
Out in the wilderness of the vast desert, a man could be seen meditating, suspended in the air. With eyes closed he began moving his arms in intricate patterns, universal energy beginning to revolve around him, entering his body from multiple directions. This was the hidden face of Ethan's power, the true power. Manipulate universal energy.
Deep inside him, one of the shackles that shrouded Ethan's energy pool broke. The amount of universal energy flooding into the pool multiplying by several tenths. A dark blue shockwave erupted from Ethan, pulsating outwards, dispelling the clouds forming above, shaking the ground down to its core.
In the distant mountain range a beige, sand colored head peeked up over a small ridge. Sensing the shockwave before it appeared it flexed its wings, taking off into the sky, peering at the rocks below.
With a loud crashing sound the shockwave hit the mountains, eroding its way through the rocks before coming to a halt and dispelling. The creature in the air flicked its head, staring towards the epicenter of the disaster, a single man meditating mid air. With a suffocating aura pulsing like an extension of his soul, he came down to the ground setting foot on the shattered earth.
"Just 19 more and you will all be dead." His eyes seemingly staring up into the sky, past the dimensional fabric and towards a feminine figure sitting on a throne in a blank, white space.
Slowly opening her eyes she uttered two simple words,
"He's moving."
Three pairs of eyes opened at the same time, intense flames burning in each one of them.
