Family Confrontation

Jessie set the mashed potatoes and gravy between the fried chicken platter and the basket of biscuits. She tried to turn off her automatic calorie counter. Liam's favorite meal was loaded with fat, carbs, and calories. However, it was a great way to keep Liam's attention long enough to clear the air if he let her. She hoped the addition of Steph and Jakara to dinner would add enough buffer to get through the loosely written script she had come up with.

First the kids, then David. One last confrontation with David, and it would be even less pleasant than the norm. If only he hadn't confronted Jessie in front of Min Jun and made her feel weak like she was for so many years.

"Hi, Mom," Steph kissed her cheek and picked up the green bean casserole and honey butter. "Have I mentioned how much I love you?"

"You mean my green bean casserole?"

"That too."

Jessie yelled for Jakara to join them. No more secrets. She was family, or at least the mother of the family.
