"No, Mom, I'm not. I'm going to work this out without you." Liam's face was red. His fists were clenched on the tabletop.

Jessie turned to Min Jun. Her cheeks reddened. "Liam can set me off like no one I've ever met, and today, alarm bells were going off. I'm willing to bet The Flour Pot that he is in serious trouble. If he won't tell me, you tell me before my head explodes."

Min Jun looked from Liam to Jessie. He was stuck in the middle. He understood why Liam wanted to keep his criminal activity secret, and for once, he approved of how Liam was trying to protect his mom from the knowledge. He could only imagine how Jessie would feel after hearing how low Liam had fallen.

On the other hand, Jessie was his wife. He owed her honestly. He had promised full disclosure after he had messed up in dealing with her ex-husband. Min Jun shook his head at his no-win situation. He opted for distraction while he came up with the best way to break the news to her.
