Betty was sitting at the front window with her head propped up on her fists when Jessie entered. The early dawn light silhouetted the old lady.

"What are you looking at, Betty? Watching your life float away?"

"No. Watching Uncle Sam's. I've been watching since I got here, and I watched for a while yesterday. You know, I think I've seen maybe ten people in two days enter the coffee shop."

"That's more than we've had."

"True, but we assumed our business dropped off because customers were headed across the street. That's not true from what I've seen, so where are the people, Boss Lady?"

"I think I can answer that," Jakara announced as she carried over the tablet they used in the kitchen to display recipes. "Take a look at this."
