Midnight at the Park

Lexy took a deep breath of fresh air. The park was small and well-kept. The playground equipment appeared new, and the mulch underfoot smelled of pine. The swing called to her, so she took a seat and set off on a slow swing. The motion mimicked her feelings about Luke.

One minute, she was for sure she was falling in love with him. Like when she took his hand in the car. The chemistry was definitely there. She could picture herself making love to him.

In the next minute, she felt an insurmountable wall between them. It felt like they were trying to force a relationship between strangers. She knew part of the problem came from Luke's nature. He didn't like talking about himself. Lexy always felt she was coercing him just to find out what he did with his day. It had taken her forever to realize that his lack of smiling had little to do with his mood. It was just who Luke was. He thought with his head and not with his heart. Which brought up the next hesitation.
