One and Done

Lexy awoke to an empty bed and scanned the room for Abi. Try as she might, Lexy had fallen asleep to the sound of Abi sniffling. She had tried her best to stay awake and comfort the woman, but good intentions failed against her exhaustion.

Poor woman. Lexy couldn't imagine being that invested in someone only to be kicked to the curb out of the blue, but from what Abi had told her, Danny wasn't exactly a stand-up guy. He couldn't be and desert her the way he had. And the unexplained credit card charges set off all sorts of alarms for her.

Lexy had a total of one credit card that she used for emergencies, and to her an emergency meant someone was injured, she had unpaid school fees, or she needed bail money after being arrested for civil unrest after picketing a puppy mill operation. In other words, the credit card was used just enough to keep the bank from canceling it and not one penny more.
