Second Chance

Lexy looked at Mark. Mark looked at her. His gaze slid to his sister, who looked away. And then the dance began again. Had they not been eating way too much food for three people and enjoying every bit of it, from the fluffy pancakes and scrambled eggs to the crisp bacon and fruit parfaits, the moment might be awkward.

She sensed the siblings didn't want to discuss Abi's predicament in front of her, and Lexy definitely wasn't ready to define what had happened between her and Mark the night before. Had it really only been last night? It seemed like her whole life had changed since then. Her romance with Luke was almost gone before it started. She had made a new friend, and even though she had slept very little last night, she felt normal again, like the thing with her dad had never happened.
