CHAPTER ELEVEN

CHLOE'S POINT OF VIEW

The boys were fun, soon we began to move together as a group. It was nice to have more friends. Mindy seemed a little more subdued.

Kaffy spent less time with us because she had to prepare for her cousins' arrival. We decided that Kaffy needed a break so we planned some cooking competition between her and Tim.

She loved to challenge Tim at every opportunity she got. It was fun for me... Why would I complain when it's meant more food for me. Trina was especially more excited because it would be the first for her.

The cooking competition was usually held twice a month but the past few months had been so hectic and draining.

I decided to go shopping the next day by myself. I got dressed in a simple Jean gown. I left my hair down in more defined curls, courtesy of the new flexy rod set I bought recently.

I was greeted by the aroma of current pancakes and maple syrup. I hugged Tim from behind who chuckled.

'Someone seems to be in a good mood this morning' Tim stated. I buried my face in his back and inhaled his scent.

After a sumptuous breakfast, i took Tim's credit card and his car which he forced me to take because he couldn't drive me. He was so overprotective.

TWO HOURS LATER

I am flying in the air, screaming. I sense death so close. I scream, ' Nooooo' as I close my eyes, probably never to open them again. ' Tell Tim that I love him,' I whispered.

TWO HOURS AGO

I arrived the mall and was about to text Trina and kaffy when i remembered that i had decided to shop alone. I sighed, berating myself for making that decision. Two hours of shopping alone was going to be hectic.

I dragged myself to the clothing section. I sensed someone behind me. I moved to another section of the mall but the person kept trailing me.

I dragged myself to the clothing section. I sensed someone behind me. I moved to another section of the mall but the person kept trailing me.

I decided to check out the clothing section. I sensed someone behind me. I moved to another section of the mall but the person kept trailing me.

I turned to berate the culprit but it turned out to be Jay. His smile widened as he pulled me into a huge bear hug.

‘Hey c bear, miss me?’, he drawled. I rolled my eyes and tried to wriggle from his grip but he was way stronger than I was. He yelled in pain, ‘you are so wicked.’ I replied, ‘You are such a pain in the ass.’

He moved closer, ‘Maybe, but I’m your pain in the ass.’ Feeling frustrated, I shook my head and yanked myself away from him.

‘Gross! Nice seeing you…not and goodbye!’ I exclaimed. He chuckled at my antics and pulled me even closer. Geez! This guy had no sense of boundaries.

‘I am bored and you are without company. This is the universe giving us a sign so let’s go shopping together,’ Jay said. Without waiting for a reply, he dragged me away and the crazy shopping started.

To be honest, Jay was a really great shopping buddy. The only con to him was when he went all… ‘It makes your butt pop out. It’s perfect.’ or ‘bare legs, bare shoulders, bare arms and bare neck. You’re good to go’ or ‘covers way too much flesh. It’s nnot your style.’

So the cue to shopping with Jay was… never buy whatever he appreciates on you. Follow that and you are good to go. However, he was a really great guy when his lips were sealed.

We had so much fun and being the gentleman he tended to be, he insisted on paying half the price because he used up my time, disturbed me all day and he had to compensate for that.

I tried to refuse but he was so adamant and like the big baby he was, he would whine if he didn’t have his way so I just let him do his thing.

Then he literally dragged me to this swingy thingy that looked like a pendulum. Sorry…not sorry…that I was horrible with names of ‘play’ things that looked dangerous.

Jay noticed my facial expression and smirked. He started to make chicken noises to taunt me. Such a gentleman. He basically hauled me into the death toy. I really felt like I was about to die. That was how I ended up with that jerkface on a death accelerating ride.

After what felt like an hour, the stupid ride stopped and I almost puked my entire breakfast out. He was laughing at me so loudly that he attracted a lot of attention.

Mortified, I kicked him in the shin and stomped to my car, only to realize that I left my bags with him. I walked back to an expectant Jay who shook his head in amusement as he showed me my bags.

He walked me to Tim’s car and hugged me goodbye. I stopped by a baker’s shop and bought some baking ingredients. I was relieved as I checked each item off the shopping list.

TRINA’S POINT OF VIEW

My elder sisters, Alia and Fernanda came home today. They were in college already and that meant I hardly saw them. I was happy to see them.

Growing up, we weren’t really fond of one another. I was the chubby little sister that didn’t really look like them. They were the badass sisters that I never seemed to be able to catch up with.

They had lighter skin and less nappy hair unlike me who had the nappiest hair and a darker skin shade. That made them popular as they were deemed gorgeous exotic beauties while I, a lesser version of them.

However, that changed two years ago when I overcame that phase of being the awkward fat sister. Now, they even came to me for fashion advice and for my makeup skills.

They drew me into a hug. I suddenly realized that I had missed them so much. Alia, the more generous ‘girly’ sister bought me a new set of makeup brushes and a new hair care set. Screaming,, I jumped on her in gratitude.

Fernanda, the more tomboyish and total baddie gave me a leather jacket, a pair of leather boots and some spandex pants. I really was in awe of them. That had not changed.
