We sat in silence for a few seconds before she began, “Mara...” she gazed at me, “sorry, Chloe” I rolled my eyes at her antics. She continued, “Chloe, your father told me that he contacted you.”
She looked at me again and turned her attention to her cup of coffee, “You turned him down, didn't you? You are so much like me.”
I cringed and clenched my fingers in anger. She went on like she did not see any reaction from me, “I am going to your father's home in Ethiopia to celebrate his success as a business man. He wants you and Tim to be there. I want you to be there. We want you guys. The four of us together in one place. It's been years since that has been. I know you miss that.”
I stood up, “No, I already said I wasn't going. Except I see a good reason I should, I am not going.”
Ann stood up and screamed, “I am your mother and I am telling you that you will go to your father's party in Ethiopia.”
