48 - Complications

There was a middle aged man standing in front of a broken in half table, and he had a letter in his hand as he stared at it in anger. He had just broken the table in anger, showing that he did not have a very good control of his temper.

Then, with a thought, the letter in his hands was torn to shreds, looking like it had simply torn itself.

He then stormed out of his house, going to another one nearby.

He then left that house and went to another one with the person who was in the house he had just gone to.

He went to a total of seven different houses, gathering all the people within them before bringing them back to his house.

By the time he they had gotten back inside, the servants of the house had already replaced the table so it looked like nothing had ever happened. It was obvious they had done so under his order.

These eight people were all Elders of the Su family, and they were all at the second silver star, with the man who had just gotten the others being the only peak tier two star silver rank among them. Aside from him, the strongest person was an weaker high tier two star silver rank.

"I called you all here, and you most likely know why. That boy Su Tao must be dealt with, and it's time we took action personally..."

...

Meanwhile, Su Tao had gone back to the edge of the rank five beasts' territory, and he was thinking about the information which he had learned from that group of people.

He had gone and done that for two main reasons.

The first was that he wanted to put out the information that he only killed those who attacked him, which would allow him to get more reason on his side, disallowing the Elders from having him arrested and killed.

The second was to actually get information just like he had told the group.

And he had learned some interesting information. There were several things that had happened while he was gone, and they were quite major things as well.

One of the things was that the City Master's daughter had been accepted into a large sect and would be raised by them to a very high level. She had become a core disciple right away, and her position was now incredibly high within that sect.

This made the future of the city uncertain. Both of the City Master's children were gone. The young master had inexplicably vanished, and now his daughter had gone away. What would happen if the young master came back? This made people very anxious.

Another thing that happened was that the number one family among the ten families in the city, the Huo family, had gotten another two high tier three star silver ranks, and one of their strongest high tiers had broken through to the peak tier, which was simply absurd.

They now far outclassed the rest of the city and only the City Master's family could keep them under control.

The City Master's family, the Liu family, was the number one family of the city, hence why he was the City Master, and they had many three star silver ranks, but the Huo family was starting to get somewhat close to them in strength.

The Liu family was the leader of the city, so they weren't considered part of the ten families and were simply considered the leaders of the city.

The future of the city was now getting extremely unstable, and the enemy of the City of Silver Sparrow, Li City, was seeming to be getting antsy because of it, and many people believed that they would attack the city if the situation got any more unstable.

But the most perplexing thing that had happened was that the wedding between Su Xue and Su Long had been announced, and its date frustrated Su Tao. It was set to take place in about two months, and he was not confident in being able to kill Su Long before then.

This was because Su Long would obviously be protected during that time, and he likely wouldn't even leave his house.

After all, an archer was a terrifying adversary, and they were most skilled in assassination, which only one at the third silver star or above could truly protect against.

Su Tao had promised Su Xue that he would help her if he could, and this meant killing Su Long before the wedding.

She had asked his help out of pure desperation when she saw that he was incredibly talented, but it seemed that the wedding had likely been moved up precisely because he was improving so quickly.

Otherwise, it would likely be another couple years before the wedding would happen. Weddings in this world often took years to set up and execute. There were many people to send the news to who would be hard to locate, meaning that they typically took a long time after being set up to actually happen.

He realized that maybe his frenzied improvement might have been a bad thing, not for him, but for others.

The Elders had obviously figured out that Su Tao would likely try to help Su Xue out of the wedding based on the fact that she saved his life and provided shelter for him for no apparent reason, and they reacted accordingly.

With Su Tao's unnatural consistency in breakthrough speed, he would require much less time to break through to the two star silver rank, but it was still not enough to break through in less than two months.

He also didn't even know how long it would take him to break through the bottleneck to the two star silver rank as well, adding even more time on.

He was stuck in a predicament. It was undoubtedly his fault that the wedding date between Su Xue and Su Long had been moved up, and he had promised Su Xue that he would kill Su Long if he could.

But now, instead of either helping her or not being fast enough to, he had actually made the situation worse, which made him extremely uneasy.

He owed her a life debt, so he would help her even if she didn't ask for his help, but now that he had made it worse, it was a matter that he was forced to confront head on.

This was the situation that he wanted the least, and it was going to be extremely difficult to deal with.

He currently couldn't kill Su Long because not only did he not know where he was, but Su Long would undoubtedly be guarded by his father or maybe even his grandfather himself during this time, and they were both extremely strong and not people that Su Tao could deal with.

Su Tao felt his head hurt thinking about this, but there was nothing he could do. This was the first time he had truly been unable to think of a solution.

It simply wasn't possible for him to break through to the two star silver rank by then, and even if he did, it didn't guarantee his success.

He previously liked to think that he was quite intelligent, but he wouldn't have predicted this to happen. He now realized that he was only thinking about his goals, and not how anything he did would change the overall situation.

However, he was still just a teenager who didn't have much experience in the world, so it really couldn't be put against him for not thinking of this.

However, he still took responsibility since, whether he was experienced or not, it was still his fault that this was the current situation.

He spent quite a while trying to think of solutions to the current predicament, but he came up blank.

He had also learned from the men who were loyal to the Elders that they had a plan even if he did prove that those people were killed in self defense, meaning that he couldn't go back into the city at all.

He didn't know what this plan might be, but he figured that it involved them personally taking action. They would most likely use their influence and reputation to spread some fake news about Su Tao, leading him to be barred out of the city once again.

But it could be something different, and the possibilities were many, and he didn't care to figure it out right now. He currently couldn't go back anyways since a couple people saying that he spared them because they didn't attack him wasn't enough to get any actual traction in terms of getting the kill order rescinded.

It was just him starting to clear his name through a rumor and making the kill order seem overkill, which would make less people search for him.

Su Tao knew a little about how the legal process would work, so he was confident that he could at least clear his name enough to get rid of the kill order.

However, he didn't really have much confidence in doing so many things simultaneously, let alone dealing with the scheming of the Elders and the matter of the wedding, which were each enough to occupy a large amount of his attention even on their own.

But very soon, Su Tao made his decision as he pushed all of this out of his mind.

His eyes focused as he took out a beautiful blue pill and swallowed it without hesitation.

This was the water spirit pill, and it was capable of being effective even for three star silver ranks, which meant that it would have an absolutely incredible effect for Su Tao.

The moment it entered into his body, he felt a tide of cool and calm energy spread through his whole body as the watery inner energy in his dantian instinctively reacted.

This energy was peaceful, but it was extremely powerful, and Su Tao started to struggle a bit to control the energy.

However, just as he was about to slightly lose control over some of the energy, his left eye released a steady stream of its power, and it instantly spread through his body, immediately taking full control of this energy as if it was its own.

The purple tattoos on his body suddenly appeared, with the purple flowers glowing lightly.

As the purple power of his left eye took control of the watery energy within his body, it didn't let his body absorb even a tiny bit of it, and the power was directed straight into his dantian, into the watery inner energy in there.

He felt the quality of his inner energy instantly start to rise, getting stronger in only a moment.

The energy of the water spirit pill also instantly converted into his own watery inner energy as he refined it using his new refinement technique.

Su Tao was shocked to see this, and the speed at which it refined was simply insane.

But he took full advantage of this speed and refined his inner energy at seemingly impossible speeds.

Very quickly, in only five days, Su Tao's watery inner energy was stronger than a peak tier's strongest possible inner energy and was almost at the level of a two star silver rank, which was completely inconceivable.

But as it hit this level, it reached a limit, and he felt that this was the limit of what he could do at the peak tier. However, he still had an incredible amount of energy from the water spirit pill left, and he didn't know what to do with it.

He didn't want to use it to just start the process of breaking through to the two star silver rank because this would just be a waste of this precious resource. However, he didn't have anything else that he could do with it.

But just when he was wondering what to do, he felt a tiny pulse from his left eye and his heart at the same time as his mind was sucked into the dimension of his eyes and into the endless grassland once again.
