CHAPTER SIX

WARNING: Mention of suicide.

The North wing is situated on the North side of the school. The eerie building stood between the West wing and the North wing. The whole atmosphere of the north wing was very different from the other wings, probably as this was a staff’s office, there were also living quarters in the North wing for the educators.

There were pictures of clan heads in the hallway of the main staff building, from the founder of each clan to the current leaders of the clans. At the end of the hallway, there was also a picture of the aristocrat who founded the academy, his frame, the largest on the wall.

Louloudi stood at the front of Melany Adelio’s portrait. Melany Adelio is one of the few female clan heads in the country, not to mention that she is not just any clan head. Some people like to say that she got lucky being the leader of one of the four great clans, her ancestors had already built a powerful empire with powerful allies, and all she had to do was sit in that position.

“Do you also think that’s the case” Audrey turned to Louloudi “Because I don’t think so”

She turned to Melany Adelio’s portrait and stared for a long time, when Louloudi thought she wouldn’t say anything else, Audrey finally opened her mouth to speak “Her ancestors might have created an empire, but she sustained it. Her parents died years back, leaving her alone with such a big responsibility and she never failed them” Audrey smiled and walked away from the portraits “If that’s not what power is then I wonder what it is”

“You seem to like her very much”

Audrey seemed surprised at this “It’s that obvious? I didn’t even show much feeling. Well, she is an idol to almost the whole population of the school, so, if you don’t like her, you better don’t let them find out”

Audrey stopped walking, turned her head abruptly to Louloudi, and with a scrutinizing gaze asked “You do like her, right?”

Louloudi smiled brightly, “Of course I do” Her gaze lingered on Melany’s portrait “She is my Idol”

Audrey nodded her head in satisfaction, this gesture brought a smile to Louloudi’s face. What is this idol-chasing behavior?

“The students over there, what are you moping around here for when it's lecture time?”

The principal’s assistant, Sussan, is a petite glasses-wearing blonde from the Asher clan. The Asher clan is at number ten on the list of clans in the country. She studied at a prestigious university outside the country and was the best graduating student in the whole school.

This information, Louloudi knows through the file Xander sent to her the previous day. Sussan might seem outgoing, but she doesn’t speak much, only when necessary. She had a confident bearing and she is beautiful to booth, this has made her very popular amongst the male population of the Academy, but the same can’t be said for the female population.

When Sussan saw who they were she stiffened a little and then straightened her back, it was a minute action and Louloudi doubts Audrey noticed.

“Miss Audrey, Miss Thompson, the principal is waiting in his office, follow me”

There was no need to continue wasting time as the principal’s assistant had come to take them to him and so they followed her to the principal’s office. It was silent the whole way it was a little awkward, Louloudi does not know if it is just her imagination but Audrey seems to dislike Sussan.

They got to a huge mahogany door, there was a sign on it that said principal’s office, and beside the office, there was a working station, which seemed to be Sussan’s office. She knocked on the huge mahogany door, opened it, and then gestured for them to go in.

The expensive paintings on the wall caught Louloudi’s attention when she entered the office, the office had enough space and decorations it seemed as if one entered a showroom instead of a school principal office. Louloudi couldn’t help but marvel at the extravagance of the office.

"Oh, Miss Thompson!"

The principal a short stout man came from behind a bookshelf and greeted, smiling from ear to ear

"Please have a seat" he gestured towards a single person's couch in the office; this means he is inviting only Louloudi to sit. Audrey did not react to this, she remained standing behind the couch, she’s gotten used to it already.

"Oh, Miss Thompson I have been looking forward to meeting you, I hope everything about this school suits your taste. if it's not okay, you can let me know and I will make adjustments."

Louloudi was shocked at the difference in the principal’s attitude toward herself and Audrey, she did not let this show on her face though as she was offered tea made by the principal himself. Louloudi relaxed and crossed her legs assuming a rich miss disposition as she sipped her tea, since he knew to fawn, Louloudi did not mind accompanying him to the end!

"How is Madam?"

"Puuu!" Louloudi did a spit-take, the elegant disposition she had assumed, gone with the wind. She looked at the principal surprised 'he knows about Melany?'

"Oh...did I say something wrong, I thought you didn't want people to know that clan head Doyle Thompson is your elder sister that was why I did not address her by her title, please pardon my manners"

‘Say what now?' Louloudi heard someone suck in a breath and turned to see Audrey staring at her incredibly. 'What are you staring at me like that for? I am not familiar with this arrangement.'

Louloudi’s surname was chosen by Melany, there was no way Melany missed the fact that it was a clan name, so there is a very big possibility that Xander had forgotten to mention a very important piece of information.

The principal thinking Louloudi probably didn’t expect him to know about it added, "Your older sister called me a week ago, she asked me to arrange for you as this is your first time attending a school in the country.”

Louloudi was taken by surprise, if Clan head Doyle Thompson called the principal, that would confirm her suspicion that Xander had forgotten to inform her about a very important piece of information. Louloudi was shedding internal tears but outside, her expression was still indifferent.

While they were heading back, Audrey was quiet, she seemed to be in deep thought. Louloudi was about to say something but was interrupted by a throng of people gathered at the front of the eerie building.

Louloudi and Audrey were able to push to the front because of their small build. Louloudi felt her blood run cold, there was a dead body lying on the floor in a pool of blood, eyes wide open. She heard a sigh beside her and turned to see Audrey staring at the body without much emotion. It seemed this was not the first time.

Louloudi deduced it was suicide from the bits of scattered conversations around her. Louloudi thought otherwise though, there were red marks on this person’s wrist showing signs of struggle, and the thought that somebody might have pushed this person down made Louloudi shudder.

Louloudi remembered her goal in this school, meaning she had to act with caution and if there was anything to say, it should be said to Melany. She carefully observed everyone around the vicinity. Her eyes stopped on the building beside the unnerving one. This building looks modern and occupied and it seemed odd it was placed beside the creepy building.

The building had a double-hinged window facing the courtyard where the incident had occurred, a person was standing by the window, he had his arms crossed, staring down at the commotion taking place.

Louloudi nudged Audrey "Hey who is that"

Audrey followed her line of sight and frowned

"I don't know I.....” She stopped mid-sentence as she realized who Louloudi was curious about, she moved her gaze away in a hurry

“That is Felix Easton of the Easton clan!"

‘The mystery guy’ Louloudi widened her eyes and then raised her head to see this person clearly but he was no longer standing there.

What Louloudi did not know is that the same way she was observing everybody within the vicinity was the same way she was been observed by certain people, some of them, in the area while some in the shadows.

Harry Tennyson stood behind the crowd, hands in his pockets as he stared unflinchingly at Louloudi. The students, too caught up in the atmosphere did not notice he was behind them, they would have created a pathway to the front for him, he did not make a move either, he just stood staring straight at Louloudi.

Feeling a burning gaze, Louloudi shifted her gaze but all she saw was a retreating back.
