The swishing didn't awaken Nin. But the shrill shout down the corridor had her up shortly.
She looked around, disoriented, then, as she noticed the screaming came from down the hall, she headed for the door and peeked.
And there, almost in front of her door, stood a screaming illusion of Yuna and a man, desperately trying to shut it up. He dropped a pebble with a hastily engraved charm and the illusion disappeared.
He hadn't noticed her.
Yet.
Nin didn't close her door, afraid that the creak of the old wood would betray her presence. She tiptoed back to the bed, putting on her shoes. She grabbed a coat and looked out the window.
She was three stories up, way too high for her to reach the ground safely.
She gripped the invisibility bracelet off the nightstand.
