41. The DNA test

"Mum, where are we going again?" Cameron asked, as I helped him tie up his shoelaces.

I cleared my throat, "To the hospital."

"For what? I don't have an appointment with the doctor today or do I?" He asked.

"You don't," I responded.

"Then what are we going for?" He asked.

I smiled and stroked his hair gently then I sat beside him on his bed.

"Darling, how will you feel knowing I've lied to you about something?" I asked.

"Mum, you always say it's not good to lie so I know you will never lie," He said.

I smiled, "But what if I did?" I asked.

"I don't know how I'd feel," Cameron replied truthfully.

I sighed, "Darling, there's something I must tell you."

"Yes mum, go on," He urged.

"Your...ummm...your... Your father isn't dead," I stuttered.

He looked at me in disbelief, "What are you saying mum?"

"I lied to you. Your father hurt me and that's why I didn't want him to come close to you," I explained.

Cameron looked at me, speechless.
