Vacation

Betty's P O V

“That bitch!” I yelled and pushed away the flower vase in front of me.

“I think you should calm down, Betty, let's think of a way to heal that wound. I'm sure your father will get furious once he finds the injury.” Emma suggested.

“Yeah, she's right, Betty. Let's find a way to make the scratches disappear.” Ella supported.

Emma came forward with first aid treatment and started treating the scratches while I groaned out in rage.

“That maid. I think she is a witch,” I hissed.

“A witch? Are you sure about that? You know witches are not allowed in our territory, tell your father if you are sure about this.” Ella said.

“Yeah, if she's a witch, she'll get what she deserves for stepping foot here.” Emma supported.

“She has to be a witch, she injured me, you two can see. She claims to be a poor maid, but she is clocking her real self. I'm not one hundred per cent sure now, but I'll find out and have her head taken.” I vowed.

“Yes, you should.”

“Betty? Betty?” Father's voice rang out.

I quickly covered my injury with a scarf, and Emma hid the first aid box.

The door opened and dad walked in. He is a powerful man, standing 6'3 (1.91 m)ft, I'm glad I didn't get my height from him but from my mother who is late now. He demands respect wherever he goes, and he has fought alongside the king when they were still very young. He also managed to get Damon to promise marriage to me if he doesn't find his fated mate. That means he won't marry anyone else aside from me if he doesn't find his real mate.

I've been praying to the moon goddess ever since. I don't ever want his fated mate to appear, I hope she is dead whenever she is.

I know dad dreams of being the king, but since he can't achieve this, he wants his grandchild to be one. Everything depends on me, and I can't let one stupid maid or anyone for that matter take what my family has fought long for.

“Good day dad.” I greeted.

“Good day sir.” Emma and Ella greeted.

“Yes, you two should leave us.” He said to them, and they immediately left.

He turned to focus on me.

“Child, how is it going?” I can't read his thought, but I know that he is asking about Damon.

“Dad, he hasn't engaged me yet. He seems too busy to remember that.” I pouted, looking so pitiful.

“What do you mean, he is busy?” He frowned.

“Yes, recently. He has been in his office, working out stuff. He sent me away the last time I visited him. Dad, if you could suggest this to the king, then I'll be fine.”

“Suggest what to the king?” He questioned.

“I want the king to grant us a month's vacation if I stay together with him for a month. I might even come home with your grandchild inside my stomach. He won't be able to push me away again once I'm carrying your grandchild, and even the king will make sure he gets married to me. If in case his fated mate shows up, and he gets together with her, your grandchild will still take the crown.” I explained.

“That is a good idea. I'll speak to the king about it, and don't forget to visit him every day. That boy seems stubborn.” He answered back.

I smiled and knelt in appreciation.

“Thank you, dad. Thank you so much.” I smiled.

“It's okay. Stand up.” He nodded.

I stood up and watched as he walked out through the door.

The door opened again and Emma and Ella came in.

“You are smiling, tell us?” Ella winked.

“Damon and I will be going on a one-month vacation. Just the two of us, and I intend to return with his child.” I announced giggling.

“Wow, but take us with you. Don't leave us here, best friend.” Ella grabbed my hands and pouted.

“Uh…no, that won't be cool. It should be the two of us.” I disagreed.

“That's unfair. We always follow you everywhere. It's unfair to us, don't you agree, Emma?” Ella turned to look at Emma.

“Yeah, I think so.” Emma scratched her head as she announced.

“Okay, okay. But you guys will only reveal yourself when he is not available. I know we'll be going on a vacation, but I'm sure he'll busy himself with work occasionally. So during that time, I'll speak with you guys.”

“Yes, that's right. We won't disturb you. We'll even help you plan things out.” Ella smirked.

Aria's P O V

I carried the cleaning pieces of equipment to the west wing to clean there, as usual, Lara hasn't spoken a word since I refused to tell her what happened.

I know she would be angry with me, I broke my promise to her anyway. I feel pretty bad though, I'm not the type to do this, but I've got to do it to protect myself and my parents from getting harmed, although I don't know the real motive for it. I don't understand why prince Damon asked me not to tell Lara what happened.

I wish I could tell her because I don't usually keep things from her this long.

I sighed and made to start cleaning when I heard someone cough behind me.

I turned to see evil Betty, glaring at me and wishing me death.

“I clearly warned you not to show yourself to him, didn't I?” She groaned.

“I… I… Still have to clean here.” I mumbled.

“Well, I guess I'll send some of my guards to pay a visit to your parent's house. Expect a call from home.” She hissed and started walking away.

Oh, no. This wicked soul.

“I won't clean here anymore. I won't, I promise. Just don't harm my parents, please.” I begged.

She turned to stare at me. I quickly picked up the cleaning pieces of equipment and rushed down the hall.

I need to beg that old woman to assign me to another post.

Damon's P O V

I stood in front of the closet, trying to figure out the dress I'll be putting on. Normally, some people are supposed to do this for me, but I prefer doing this by myself sometimes, so I sent them all away.

I heard the clicking of heels and a scent soon hit my nostrils.

Betty, she's here. Oh well, I guess I know what to wear.

“Your Highness? Prince Damon?” She called out.

*Come in* I mind linked her.

The door opened, and she stepped in with a beautiful smile on.

The smell of medicine mixed with blood reached my nose and I turned to her.

“How is your injury?” I asked. I want to know if the scratches have healed themselves.

“Uh…it's okay. I'm fine.” She forced a smile, clearly not happy about it.

The scratches aren't healed yet. That adds another point, that girl might just be one of them, but how come she doesn't know this. How come she doesn't know who she is?

I'm glad I've ordered her to refrain from sharing any news of what happened with that friend of hers. She seems to know a lot, she seems to be hiding a lot.

“Good.” I shook my head and watched as came forward. She placed her hand on my chest and caressed it.

“I'm here because your father asked me to bring you. I think he has something for us.” She informed.

A low groan escaped from my lips. One thing I hate is getting called by my father.

“Oh, I'm sorry. I know how you don't like being summoned. But I bet it's a good thing, I'm sure he is not going to scold you.” She leaned backwards before saying.

I ignored her and brought out a shirt that I haven't worn before, then threw it on.

“Let's go." I groaned and started leaving the room.

“Eh, where is princess Arya? Thought she is staying with you now.”

“She is with Matthew.” I simply replied, we kept walking and finally got to my office area.

I see a maid cleaning the area, but she wasn't the one I was expecting to see.

“Where is the maid originally stationed here?" I questioned.

The maid went on her knee with her head lowered.

“Your Highness, she…she is not feeling well, so I'm filling in for her.” She answered.

She is not feeling well? I caught her scent this morning. How come she is not feeling well?

“Let's go, any maid can clean here.” Betty pulled me with her as she continued walking.

“You know your father is still waiting.” She added before I started moving with her.

We passed a couple of maids who went on their knees in greeting, but I didn't find the particular one I was searching for.

A car that was already prepared got opened for us, and we went in.

The North wing where mom and dad stay isn't too far away, but I still don't like walking there. We arrived the next minute and got down from the car.

The door got opened for us as we went in and to father's chambers.

“Your Majesty,” Betty went down on her knees to greet both her father and mine.

“Father, why did you ask for me?” I ignored Betty's father and went to stand in front of mine. I don't like the man, he seems suspicious for my liking.

“Damon, how will you continue behaving like that? Don't you see your future wife's father? How long will you keep pretending not to see him? A prince should be respectful and humble. Don't you know that?” He berated.

“I'm sorry. I'll do better in the future. But why did you ask for me?” I inquired.

He sighed and looked at Betty's father, Betty's father only smiled like he always does.

“Well, we have discussed things and concluded that you need a vacation with your future wife. I waited for you to come back with the engagement news, but you never did. So, maybe you require some personal time to figure things out with her. So, I am sending you on a month's vacation to wherever you chose. You need lots of rest since you recently got admitted.” He informed.

I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath. This must be Betty's suggestion.

“Father, I understand your worry and care for me, but I don't need…”

“You'll do as I say, Damon. No objections.” He cuts in and said. I hate it when he is like this.

“Okay, thank you for the suggestion. I'll do exactly as you have asked.” I grumbled.

“You two should think of where you want to go today, by evening inform me. You'll leave tomorrow morning.” Father added.

“Thank you for your kindness, your Majesty.” Betty went on her knees again and thanked. I'm sure she is pleased.

“Thank you,” I mumbled before turning back and leaving his chambers.

“My son,” mom called as I was about to get into my car.

“Mom?” I turned back and embraced her.

My relationship with my father might be a little awkward, but I sure am comfortable with my mom. She doesn't behave anything like my father, who is always demanding this and that.

“Mother.” Betty also called and came to embrace her, but she stopped her.

“Betty, can I have a minute with my son, please? I heard you asked for a vacation with him. I just need a minute with him.” Mom said.

Betty stepped back, looking a little heartbroken and disappointed.

My mother doesn't like her as much because she is not my fated mate. Mom believes in fated mates because she and my father are mates.

“Yes, my queen. I'll just wait in the car.” She stepped back and went into the car.

My mom smiled at me as she'd always do, then she held my hand and started leading me back to her room.

“What is it, mom? Am I getting scolded today?” I joked. I can only joke this way when I'm with her.

“Yes, my dear son. You are getting scolded, why didn't you tell me that you have found your one true mate? Why didn't you inform your mother?" She questioned, looking pretty displeased.
