Good mate
Aria's P O V
Her very actions annoy me to no end. How dare she?
I reached for her hand and pull it away from his. Then moved to stand beside him.
She stares at me with a confused expression before looking up at Damon, who remains quiet.
“Uh…” the maid took a step backwards and sniffed.
“I'm so happy that you are here. I have been waiting for you.” She flashed him a toothy smile.
“I haven't introduced you. Rai, this is Tina, I'll call her a friend because she is a little more than a servant to me. I hope you treat her nicely.”
“Tina, meet my mate.” He introduced.
She is a little more than his servant? No wonder she has the nerve to speak rudely to me. As a maid, I wouldn't dare that.
“Hi,” she said, staring at me with unexplainable eyes, but one thing is for sure, we'll never get along with each other.
I can feel hate seeping through my vein for her.
Even at that, I compose myself and forced a smile to my face.
“Hi,” I greeted back.
“Alright, Tina. There is a car I rented to use for the main time, here is the key. Bring the things I bought up here.” He handed the key to her and wrapped his arms around me.
He started heading to the stairs and I followed him, as we climbed the stairs, I noticed Tina stood to watch us with hooded eyes.
She seems suspicious. I don't like her and don't think I'll ever like her.
We got to our room and I move away from him at once.
He closed the door and turned to look at me.
“What was that over that?” He has an amused look on, which is pretty annoying.
“She is rude. As a maid, I'm not that rude.” I fold my arms and sit down on the bed.
“Well, everyone is not like you, and she is not a servant. She only does what she does because it's me.”
I frown at him defending her, I don't like it.
“She's a great cook too. That's the main reason why she is here, I don't want you to work or stress yourself on anything. I just want you to eat and gain weight for me.” He comes to sit beside me as he informed me.
I'm still standing at akimbo, and I don't respond. He reaches for my hand and touched it. I flinched a little at his touch.
“You should get used to my touch by now. I don't like you flinching or reacting to my touch in that manner. As my mate, I want you to get horny and crazy over me at my touch.”
I gasp at his use of words. Get horny and crazy at his touch?
My cheeks flame up as I further moved away from him. I feel so embarrassed now.
He chuckled and kissed my arm before standing up.
I should change into something more comfortable. He said, approaching the closet where he kept the cloth from yesterday.
“I picked many wears for you. You'll love them.” He says as he picked out a short and a black singlet.
I watched as he undressed in front of me, not feeling ashamed that I'm watching him. Well, I feel embarrassed in his place, so I got up and left the room.
I'm not used to all these at all. As long as I remember, he is still my prince who I'm supposed to respect.
This change is too fast, I'm not yet settled.
“Come on in.” He opened the door and urged me to enter the room before he closed the door.
“I have a few things I need to ask you.”
I bobbed my head at his words, expecting this from him.
He sits down on the sofa and brings it close to the bed, facing me directly.
“So, what happened that day? How did you get to the woods?”
“I don't know. I just opened my eyes to find myself with those humans attempting to hurt me.” I'm quick to explain.
He hums and looked up at me again.
“But they didn't do anything they shouldn't have done before I got there.” His eyes are filled with concern, and I understand what he means.
“No, they didn't. You arrived quite early.”
He shook his head and brought his hand to my hair.
“Your friend probably helped a person I suspect in getting you out of the palace late at night.” I gasp at his suggestion and shook my head.
“No, Lara would never.” I defend.
“She is not who you think she is, Aria.” He says again, but I move away from him in annoyance.
I've known Lara since I was six, although she has this behaviour of wanting to know everything, which irritates me every so often. She is not a bad person, and she has been the only one to stick beside me. Everyone left because they never saw me shift, but she stayed.
“It'll be hard, I believe you will find the truth out one day. I asked you not to tell her about the incident with Betty because I know she is a bad person. But if you insist on that, then I'll leave you to it. I won't force anything on you, I promise.” He lifted his hands, indicating how serious he is.
I remain quiet after this. Not exactly sure if I should start thinking about what he said.
Honestly, I don't think this is the appropriate time to start suspecting her. Even if I find out that she's bad, I can't even see her.
I sigh and hung my head low, recalling that I'm far from home, and it was mainly my fault.
“Cheer up, stop thinking about that already. What will you have me make you for lunch? I want to cook for you, know that I'm free.”
“Uh, I don't know. I don't know the countless delicious meals that you guys eat. You can cook one for me. One that you like.” I replied shyly.
He chuckled at my flushed cheek and bobbed his head. He was about to stand up when a knock came on the door.
“Sir Damon, I have your clothes. Open the door, so I can bring them in.” Tina yelled.
I sat upright and watched as he walked to the door and opened it.
“You can drop it over there.” He pointed out, and she carried the bags containing our clothes to the closet.
After dropping everything, she looked around the room and smiled.
“The design is very similar to the last one. No massive change.”
I scoffed at her words and folded my arms as instant jealousy filled me up.
“Is there anything I can do for you?” She turned swiftly to ask Damon, who was still standing at the door.
“You can leave.” He dismissed her, and she started leaving, slightly bumping her shoulder against his before leaving the room.
Damon closed the door and walked back to the bed.
“Can't you just find another maid? I don't like her.” I scoffed again.
“I can feel your jealousy very well. What don't you like about her?” He brought his thumb to my cheek and pinched me there.
“Well, she's too rude. I don't like her.” I shook my head like a baby crying for breast milk.
“She's a good wolf. You two just didn't start up well. When I'm not here, she's going to keep you company. I can't fire her or something, and I've told you, her cooking is great. Aside from all these qualities, I trust her, so please get along with her until we go back home?”
I looked up and into his eyes, his eyes are soft and expectant.
“Okay, I will get along with her.” I nod my head.
“Thank you. If we were still home, I wouldn't have forced this on you. There isn't much wolf here that I can trust to stay here with us, and I don't want humans staying in here with us. But I'll also warn her sternly not to annoy you so don't worry about anything, okay?”
I bobbed my head a second time. Attempting to get rid of my anger and jealousy for her.
“Good mate.” He teased. I resist the urge to roll my eyes at his teasing.
Good mate. I haven't even fully accepted the fact that I'm mated to a crown prince. A lowly maid who hasn't seen her wolf yet is mated to a crown prince who will be the king.
Some part of me thinks that I'm dreaming, and I want to avoid waking up from this dream, while another part of me knows that this is the truth and I should accept it quickly.
*
I step out of my room and climb down the stairs for dinner.
Damon has asked me to come down some minutes ago. The thought of seeing that rude maid's face again made me a bit reluctant.
I want to avoid behaving carelessly or show my dislike for her in his presence when I've made a promise to endeavour to get along with her.
I don't want him getting mad at me or being unhappy with me. He has already stated his reasons and as a good mate he called me, I should understand and not get all cocky.
He is still my prince and should be obeyed.
I saw him sitting at the head table with Tina serving the dining. I sat down on a chair beside his and watched as Tina gazes at him, he is focused on his phone and I wonder if he notices her stares.
Not only that, but I hate the way she is staring at him honestly, but I've got to compose myself.
I cleared my throat and Damon immediately brought down his phone.
“Is anything the matter? Do you need water?” He was quick to ask.
“No, I'm fine.” I smiled and lightly touched his left hand placed on the dining table.
I don't know why I did that, maybe I want to show her that he is mine and mine alone.
He grabs my hand at my touch and squeezes it in his.
“Your hand is cold, why? I hope you aren't feeling sick?”
“No, I'm not. I'm okay.” I chuckled, feeling so great by his attention.
From my peripheral view, I saw Tina roll her eyes, her eyes darkening in anger.
Yeah, whatever. She can die for all I care.
Wait, did I just wish someone death? Snap out of it. I lightly slapped my cheek to get back to my senses.
There is no water here.
“Let me bring water.” I stood up and left for the kitchen to get us some water.
I opened the fridge and brought out a jug of water, I took some ice and added it to a cup.
I need the water chill to calm down.
I placed both the water, the two glass cups for us and the ice on a tray and started moving out of the kitchen. Tina, who was coming into the kitchen, bumped shoulders with me as she-cat walked into the kitchen.
That… rude bitch! I turned to ask her why she bumped shoulders with me but decided to remain quiet. I feel it would be better not to ruin the dinner.
I ended up just glaring at her before forcing a smile to my face and returning to the dining area.
I placed the tray down and brought down the glasses before keeping them aside.
She has finished serving the dining.
“Eat, I know you are hungry.” Damon suddenly said eyes fixed on me.
I nodded and opened the plates to eat.
Did she poison my food? What if she poisoned it? I don't trust her at all.
Damon notices my hesitation and like he read my mind. He passed his food to me and collected mine.
“Thank you.” I thanked him, embarrassed that he found out that I still don't like Tina.
Well, I think I'll have to learn how to cook to avoid things like this. Yes, I'll learn how to cook.
