Kai returned to the Adventurer's Headquarters to exchange the 42 cores of low-level monsters he had collected on the Nocturnal Tower. Then he met Yuan, the exchanger, who escorted him to the opulent lobby.
While he waits to see how many coins he will earn today. Suddenly, a middle-aged man in a black suit entered the lobby, maliciously smiling at him as if he was up to something.
To begin, he bowed his head in formal greeting to Kai. "Good day, Adventurer Kai. I heard you're here to exchange cores," Azamone said politely.
Kai did the same thing, and bowed his head narrowly. "Good day, practitioner Azamone. Yes, I'm here to exchange my cores," he replied nonchalantly, speculating on how this middle-aged man got here.
"It's being processed right now, adventurer Kai; please wait a few seconds," Azamone replied, then sat next to Kai.
Kai didn't intend to ask because Alexa had explained the possible reasons why the Azamone wanted to meet him after the evaluation.
"Thank you very much,"
Azamone was staring at him from his toes to his head. "Your clothes are ripped, and your body is covered in scratches; why don't you go to the infirmary to heal your wounds?"
He gave a faint smile, puzzled as to why this man was so concerned about him. "I'm fine, practitioner Azamone." In his mind, he was leaving on the same roof as the healer, and he could ask her about it later.
At this point, Azamone sighed deeply as he realized Kai was limiting all of his responses. "Hais... You're overprotective, Kai, and I didn't know how to approach you."
"It's just needed, Azamone, so tell me, what do you need from me? I guess you're not coming here without further reason," Kai said solemnly.
"Well, since you caught me off guard, I'll tell you this straight to the point," Azamone said, his face solemn. "I'd like you to work with me."
He raised his brows, recalling everything Alexa had said to him. "Work to you? What do you mean? Do you want me to work at this headquarters?"
Azamone chuckled, tapping the small desk with his index finger in a rhythmic manner. "Don't make me laugh, Kai; I'm sure you already know what I'm trying to say here."
"I thought you were going to get right to the point? Why don't you just say it so I can understand your point?" Kai smirked at him, pretending to have an idea.
Azamone agreed with a nod of his head. "You're right, I shouldn't make it difficult for us. Well, I'm trying to recruit you to be the first-time adventurer that would work for me?"
"Eh? For you? What kind of work is that?" Kai asked.
"Of course, adventurer, what else? Like, I'm the one who will give you a quest and information, while you: you're the one who will complete it, that's simple," Azamone said as quickly as he could, knowing that if Kai received the coins, he would undoubtedly leave the area.
"Why are you choosing me? There are a lot of adventurers here who are stronger than me, and I don't even know you," Kai said, perplexed by the situation.
"I know it, but I see a potential in you that others don't, and if you accept my job offer, I can give you whatever you want just name your price," Azamone said, indicating that he would never pass up this opportunity to recruit him.
Ding!
"Here we go once more..."
Kai knew the screen would appear in front of him to cause him more problems as soon as he heard the dinging tone.
[New quest has arrived!]
[Be a business partner to Azamone! Help him to clear all the dungeon's portals around the world and recovered all the magical items and artifacts!]
[Reward(s) for accepting Azamone's offer]
+200 exp
+2 intelligence
+1 one random item.
[Restriction(s)- if you refuse the quest, you will have difficulty entering the Nocturnal Tower and dungeon's portal because this man has a lot of power.]
'Shit...'
At this point, the only thing he could do was accept the proposal so even though he couldn't afford to lose his job and the opportunity to recover all of his past memories. Nonetheless, he was certain that the system wanted him to do something in this world. However, it was too early to tell.
"Let's say I accept your proposal; how will it benefit me?" Kai inquired once more.
"Then, you will get what you want. For example, if you completed a D-rank portal, all the items you would get there and even the cores split to 50 cuts. But you have the chance to pick the item first before me because you are the one who gambles your life inside the dungeon. But don't worry, it's too early for it since your current ability isn't sufficient for that," Azamone explained.
"50 cuts huh..." Kai was watching him for a couple of seconds before asking him again. "What is your main purpose why are doing this? It's unexpected, so I can't get your point."
"I just wanted to collect all the artifacts in this world, that's all," he explained. "I know you're going to ask me why I didn't try to ask for help from the guilds, and right now, I can tell you that they were doing the same thing." He looked around, checking to see if anyone could hear their conversation. He kept talking even when he couldn't find anything. "I know you heard the Union Guild enter the tower earlier; they were on their way to take the magical necklace found with the monsters on the 19th floor."
"Hey! Hey! Hey! I'm still not accepting your proposal, so why are saying this to me." Kai put him to stop as he was too exhausted to hear more stories coming from him.
Azamone cleared his throat and realized the mistake he has done. "Yeah, you're right, I'm carried away. But what will you say? Are you going to accept my offer or not. If you accept it, don't worry I'll not give you a quest right away because I know you have to get into the tower to strengthen yourself. But if not, you should know the consequence."
Kai stood up after seeing Yuan and the man carrying a bag. "Yeah, I'm going to accept your proposal. But for now, gave me some time to rest and get stronger. Goodbye!"
Ding!
[You've completed the quest!]
[Do you want to receive your random items? Yes/No]
