Accurate Prediction

"This..."

Staring at the intricate equations sprawled across the fifteen papers and the detailed drawing of the portal along with its required components that I was holding, I sighed in frustration and let my head drop to the table.

...I never expected it to be this perplexing. I mean, it was genuinely confusing, with the numbers outnumbering the alphabets!

I was on the verge of placing the papers back on the table when something caught my attention.

"...This thing requires someone as a test subject, right?"

Turning toward Aerial's direction, I stood up from my seat.

"Can I be the one to do that?"

Thanks to my looping ability, if something goes wrong, I can just regress back to the first day and make the necessary adjustments to the machine until it works.

...Playing scientist again this round... Why does it feels weird?

"...Why?" She asked, pulling me back to reality. Her face showed a confused expression, blinking her eyes a couple of times.

"Not much... It would be safer this way."

"...?"

She became even more utterly confused by my answer, but I brushed it off. Adjusting my glasses, I approached the portal and touched it.

I just have to gather more information about this...

The peculiar zap it emitted didn't particularly bother me; it just gave me a weird tingling sensation. Turning my head to the side, I glanced at Aerial.

"We can start today."

***

A few hours passed in the blink of an eye.

Aerial delved into the intricacies of her research, explaining each calculation in a remarkably comprehensible manner. Her explanations were clear and straightforward, making me think she could have been an excellent teacher if she chose that path over being a scientist.

During our time together, Aerial also unveiled her main ability. It turned out she could manipulate all kinds of elements, which made more sense considering her deep connection with science.

...In a way, she resembled my past self when I was still immersed in the world of science.

"We're finished for today..." Aerial neatly organized the papers and returned them to their respective folders.

She added, "Come back after class tomorrow. Since you already grasp the meaning behind those numbers, I'll explain how the tools work in our next meeting."

"Yes, ma'am!" I saluted promptly, causing my glasses to shift. After readjusting them properly, I stretched my back and turned around to leave.

"See you around~" I raised my right hand and walked towards the exit. Although she didn't offer a specific response, I felt her gaze on me before it swiftly shifted away.

As I slowly closed the door, I stole a last glance at her.

Her hair fluttered in the gentle breeze from the open window, and her clear purple eyes gleamed beautifully in the sunlight.

Mumbling something, her voice didn't reach me, but I could sense the gentle melody of her words.

Tick—!

...

..

.

While strolling through the city streets, I stumbled upon a mugging in progress.

—Give me all your belongings or I'll shoot you!

The woman, visibly shivering on her knees, caught my glance. I rolled my eyes to the side, opting to ignore the unfolding drama.

"Three... Two... One..."

As my countdown reached zero, a loud man's voice echoed from a nearby building. Even without looking up, I knew the Guardian above sported a rather ridiculous costume.

—Stop right there, you evildoer!

—Who the heck are you supposed to be?

Hands in my pockets, I retrieved my earphones and slipped them on.

—Who am I, you ask?

'Who am I, you ask?'

The Guardian's scripted line overlapped with the one in my head.

—I am merely a hero who protects the weak!

'I am merely a hero who protects the weak.'

—You can just call me "Capture"!

'You can just call me Capture... Ugh, I'm tired of hearing your ridiculous lines. Move along already!'

Proceeding past the scene, I headed to the sidewalk, halting upon reaching the pedestrian crossing.

—Mom, mom! Look at this!

—Wait for me!

Silently waiting for the lights to turn red, I observed a child excitedly running toward the crossing, paying little attention to the people around.

In the midst of this, a swiftly moving vehicle approached the road.

Just as the boy was about to take a step forward, I grabbed his collar, halting him.

Foooo—!!!

The car raced past us.

When the traffic light finally turned red, I continued walking, disregarding the scene where the mother was now scolding the boy.

Afterward, I stepped into a nearby convenience store and purchased some biscuits along with a pocket knife.

—That would be 23.09 PD in total.

"... Here."

Completing the cash transaction, I pocketed the remaining change and opened the biscuit to munch on as I exited the store.

While wandering the streets, a commotion caught my attention amid the bustling crowd.

—Please! We need a knife to save my friend!

It turned out someone had accidentally ingested broken glass, and it got lodged in their throat.

Sighing, I cast my gaze toward the ground and navigated through the thronging masses.

"Take this..."

Nonchalantly passing by, I dropped the pocket knife I had purchased earlier near the distressed man, paying no heed to the onlookers.

Now, you might have already grasp on how I was able to predict what was about to happen.

Everything unfolding had already occurred during previous regressions. This familiarity allowed me to predict events and make subtle changes.

In the initial regression, I had intervened to help the woman but ended up getting beaten by the mugger, prompting Aerial to treat my injuries.

Regarding the boy, in the third regression, he tragically lost his life before me in a bloody incident.

As for the man desperately seeking a knife to save his friend, during the first regression, sadly, no one had a knife available. He was eventually rushed to the hospital, but due to blood loss, he didn't make it.

These scenarios provided valuable insights into the patterns of my regressions.

Although something change every time I do something different, it doesn't include all. All of this events happened at day 1... Day 2 is much more chaotic...

While pondering these thoughts, I recognized a familiar street and came to a halt.

"That should be it..."

Finally, I reached my destination.
