‘Did he ask you to get me?’ She asked with an expression full of expectations.

‘No, he left.’ I hated being the bearer of bad news, but the cold water had to be poured.

I watched her drop her phone and start the engine with trembling hands and a depressed sigh.

There was an announcement that our train had arrived so we moved to the boarding area.


Then after what felt like a million people had gone in, we found our way in and took our seats.


'How do you know Frank has nothing?' Alicia reached out and closed the curtain beside me.


She hated seeing the environment outside whenever we used the train. Sometimes, it even made her nauseous.


'He told me when I got back from Emily's. I don't think he wanted you to find out.'


'Wow. Why is mum letting him stay then? What can't she give him a taste of his own medicine and send him away?'


I stopped blaming mum already. Nothing was her fault.


'We can ask him about Nate today. I don't want to talk about him so please, let's change the topic.' I sighed and slumped into my seat.
