Old Wounds

Alicia said nothing. I did not fully understand Blue's story and for some reason, she was reluctant to finish it. I understood that we were digging up a memory she wanted to forget but I was curious as to how the story ended.

'What did Nate do?' I asked.

Blue looked at me and frowned.

'He was there in the hospital when I went into labor. In fact, he took me to the hospital that night.' She stood up and walked to the drawer beneath the television.

When she came back to sit, she was holding a picture frame she took from the drawer. She showed it to us, it was a picture of her on a hospital bed, holding a baby with Nate by her side.

'This was the last time I ever set eyes on him. I called and called until one day he took the call and told me to name the child Ryan.'

'He said he just needed to make some money for us because he wanted to give us a good life but it was all a lie.'

I was surprised because it seemed very impossible but there was enough proof to back it up.
