Unhelpful Marco

'Stop. She's just a friend.'

I did not want to be viewed as one of his girls, if there was a thing like that but somehow, I felt left out. He said I was just a friend which was a nice position but still, I had not made it to that special list, the place where I could be called 'this one.'

I smiled and sat on the chair he pulled out for me. I looked at the six strange faces in front of me, they had subconsciously sat in an order of tanned to untanned.

'What's your name?' One of them asked me.

He reached out and touched my arm, his palm felt very cold and it sent shivers down my spine.

'Kassandra.'

I did not hear myself speak but I moved my lips. I wished they had heard me because I did not want to go through the stress of saying my name again.

'Does she not talk?' The guy that had asked for introduction said and burst into another round of laughter. He was drunk and his breath stank.
