Something Terrible

'That's just what you think, Kassy. When the time comes, you'll definitely say good things about Jacob.'

'There's nothing good to say unless I want to lie to my child and that is the last thing I would want to do.' I sucked my teeth.

'That is what you are telling yourself.' She stood up again.

'But it's true.' I said.

She picked Kolin up.

'Why bring your child up to hate his father? I need to get groceries, I guess I'll see you later.'

'I want to go with you, I never go anywhere these days.' I walked to my wardrobe.

'Kassy, mum and I got to talking a few days back. She made me promise not to say a word to you but I've decided to stop keeping things from you.'

'It's about time.' I said absent-mindedly while looking through my clothes for a grocery store-worthy outfit.

'We're moving.' She blurted out.

I turned around to look at her. She was not smiling, she was serious.

'Why?' I asked.
