CHAPTER 54

Susan struggled against the ropes binding her tightly to the chair, ignoring the burning sensation on her cheek where she had been hit. After her futile struggle, she fixed her eyes on William's menacing gaze, "You will never get away with this, William," She spat, defiance burning within her, "Edmund will never let you go scot-free if anything happens to me or our unborn child."

William laughed, "You are not just naive but also stupid. What unborn child are you talking about? The one you kept away from him while trying to latch yourself on another man? I bet he doesn't even know or care about your disappearance."

"Do you think he is the only one that would look for me? My parents will raise an alarm and have thousands of people looking for me."

"Thousands of people yet, here you are, still tied to my wooden chair."

"Edmund will come. My parents will tell him."
