Chapter 389: Learning Magic

As always Giliath demands your power stones!

"Heh. Not that kind of magic, I'm afraid. I could show you a spell or two, but it'd be better for you to have a proper teacher for that. You really do have an interest in learning magic don't you?", I asked.

"Uh-huh. Magic seems really cool! I don't know why those witches try to hide it. They've been around since the Middle Ages right?", Princess Alfin questioned, wondering about their origin.

"Even longer than that, but yeah. Most spellcasters hide in plain sight, or remain secluded. Don't say this to Lechter alright? If you really want to go, I can take you to Eryn Village. Its surroundings are wrought with monsters, though. It is a risky adventure.", I said to Princess Alfin.

"You'd do that!?", Princess Alfin happily responded. Her eyes beamed in glee.

"I sure can. It'll have to be after my training is over. There will be a week before the fun begins so I can definitely go out and hunt some monsters. Once that happens, I can take you to Eryn Village. It isn't necessarily closed off to the public. It just has a warding barrier in place to fend off those with ill content. It's powerful enough to allow those like Lechter who can't find it, no matter how hard they try. Not unless they've already got a knack for magic.", I explained.

I also know Emma trained with Fie and that knight of the Gralsritter. I recall her name was Duvalie. They used the nearby forests surrounding Eryn Village as a training ground, and they used the teleportation stone as a base of operations for a while. That spot is no longer in use, but given the time, that is the spot I'm talking about here. Hunting those worms outside of Crossbell City only served as an appetizer. I haven't had a good monster bash in a hot minute. And once that training finishes, I'll still have a week before the party takes place. It'll be a good opportunity.

"So that's how it is. You think I can become a good witch, Big Brother?", Princess Alfin questioned.

"Heh. That'll be entirely up to you, depending on the effort you put into your studies. Magical cores are constructed within a person's body. Master knows the technique to do that, but I don't, sadly. You triggered her interest while we were beneath Valflame Palace. She already finished her business in Crossbell City, so she should have returned to the village. She has a certain spell to teach me, but I don't think that'll require all of her attention. So with any luck, Master should have enough time for you.", I continued to say.

This sure isn't going to go like the games, huh? It began to divert from the main story the moment I chose to become a witch. Originally, Roselia only recognizes Emma and Vita as her students, to which the latter wanders off from the village, and ends up joining Ouroboros, eventually earning the moniker, the Azure Abyss. That part didn't change from what I could see. She should have the seat of the Anguis.

I wasn't alone in this matter, either. I might be Master's third student, but she already has a fourth. Technically speaking. And that person is another one of my fiancés, Aurelia Le Guin. I am not sure if she should be counted as one of Master's students, though. All Master did was create her mana core. Aurelia dove into her own form of training to discover what magic was all about. I did learn that Aurelia's primary element is lightning, which is a subset of the Wind element. She also dabbles in Fire, so I'm sure her combat techniques are much more explosive and powerful now.

I still have a bone to pick with Aurelia. The duel that is. She might technically be my fiancé, but she put a condition that I have to beat her in combat. That's partly why I'll be doing this training excursion with the Thunder God apart from strengthening my foundations. I need all the strength I can get to fight her. She won't become the continent's strongest swordsman in name alone. She has the power to back that up. And now that she has magic added into the mix, she's much more dangerous. I lost a lot of health when I fought the One of Swords, but I doubt even he could match up against Aurelia where she now stands.

I know I have the Gamer System and all, but it's still far from being perfect. I want to come out triumphant against her.

Princess Alfin on the other hand, won't just be Master's student in name only. If we're going to do things the right way, I want Princess Alfin to start from the basics. She does become playable in the games later on, and she turns into a rather potent supporter with her orbal arts. Her two elements are Fire and Mirage, which makes sense as she's from the Arnor family. No matter which person it is, all of their people have the Fire element.

Myself included, thanks to my mother's bloodline. The House she belonged to shared the same blood the Arnors did, albeit at a very miniscule amount. But that's why one of my element slots in my Combat Orbment is Fire, and it's the same reason why Testa-Rossa could bond with me. My second element is Water, and I was surprised that I had a third element, being Space. The Water element is self-explanatory, as I'm part of the Auslese family. Many of their descendants likely align to this element. In the games, Kloe was perhaps one of the best, if not THE best healer you could use.

Kloe was also one of few characters who had a single element in her Combat Orbment. All of hers was Water, which meant she could unleash very powerful healing arts. Some of them are bound by Wind, but you could easily slot in one or two Wind Quartz to make those available. The bulk of the required points needed to cast those healing arts came from the Water element.

But then you got me, who has Water, Fire, and Space. The latter I can only take a guess at. It was likely due to me being reincarnated into the continent of Zemuria. That involved me moving spaces from one to another. I used to be at Planet Earth, but I'm not anymore. There aren't many characters who each have different elements they can use. Most have a primary, and secondary element. So that makes me a little special in that aspect.

For Alfin's her primary is Fire, and her secondary is Mirage. That allows a pretty unique array of Arts that can be casted. All the while she's a dedicated support, known for boosting everyone's CP up. CP, or Craft Points, doesn't exist here and it either gets converted into how much EP is needed to cast said Art, or becomes another effect. I'm curious to see how Alfin's skills will change for battling. Maybe she'll just provide an overall damage increase buff? Who knows.

But if Alfin treads the path of a Witch, I'm guessing those are what elements she will possess. That being Fire and Mirage.

I could imagine it now. Alfin shouting Firebolt just like a certain white-haired protagonist going around dungeons while recruiting girls at his side, haha!

The name of that show was "Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?". It was still running by the time I was brought over to Zemuria. It's a shame I couldn't finish that show, I rather enjoyed it.

I digress. Princess Alfin becoming a Witch...huh?

Not the craziest idea out there. If she really wants to do this, then I'll become her support. Plus I know some spells so if she gets lost or confused along the way, I can show her the ropes.

It isn't the first time a person in the Trailsverse diverted from what they were supposed to be in the games. Emma became a Jaeger. Angelica is looking to become a Bracer. Aurelia became akin to what's called a Magic Knight. Elie joined up with the Septian Church and became a Squire. And now, Princess Alfin is seeking to become a Witch.

With that in mind, I saw Princess Alfin smile at the notion, and she looked back at me.

"I guess I'll have to start calling that Witch "Master" too~", Princess Alfin teased, clapping her hands together.

"Heh. In the end, it will be up to Master to decide that. She can be pretty eccentric at times.", I replied, laughing.

"Hehe. Anyways, what is this magic trick you wanted to show me? It isn't actual magic, is it?", Princess Alfin asked, recalling what I had said earlier.
