There's sure a lot of surprised Pikachu faces being thrown around lately, huh? Myself included. Giliath simply laughed as I learned what he was intending to do. Or more specifically, His Imperial Majesty. The current reigning Emperor of Erebonia. I mean, not just anyone can have an audience with him, you know? This is a big deal!
"Haha! You indeed are, my son. As long as you behaved like you did during Her Majesty's banquet while we were back in Liberl, all should go well. Come now.", Giliath beckoned, prompting me to head to his side. He took my hand, and I followed his lead. Kasia watched on, and pulled Rean to her side. Rean watched on with growing interest.
Giliath led us to what appeared to be a safe you'd see to store important items meant to be locked away. I didn't think I'd get to see a fantasy safe, but it looked surprisingly similar to safes in my previous life. It had a number lock and everything. The power of orbal tech at its finest. I saw Giliath enter his unique pin, and it beeped. The locks disengaged, and it opened up.
Before long I saw a very beautiful, hand-crafted wooden box appear inside of it. It was longer horizontally, making it rectangular-shaped. Inscribed on the box's center was a phoenix bird, perched on its hind legs, and flaunting its wings. The wings were larger than the phoenix bird itself. Around it was a golden crest. A five-pronged crown was at its tip and the phoenix was in the center. This reminded me of the other four insignias the Great Houses held. This was a Phoenix, so is it really a fifth Great House? It was very pretty, to say the least.
"This...", I uttered. Giliath smiled at my reaction while he looked at me observing the engraved box. Giliath said this box was considered my inheritance, and after seeing everything presented to me, I could see why.
"This box is yours from today onward. It might be a little too heavy for you. See if you can lift it up.", Giliath said, urging me to take it out. I saw no reason not to. This box is mine now, I can't wait to see what's inside!
"Okay.", I happily said.
Giliath parted to the side, allowing me to step up to the safe. It allowed me to peek inside. Sure enough, the box was pretty long. I wasn't sure if my Level 10 stats were at play here, but I managed to effortlessly pull the box out, and placed it on the ground. It was unexpectedly heavy, as Father stated. I didn't see any lock on it, so after putting in some effort, I was able to open the box. I immediately let my eyes gaze upon its contents.
I wasn't sure if the contents of this box was scarce or plenty. I began to go through them one by one.
Regal clothes in the design of House Phoenix. Three different sizes. Small, Medium, and Large. It was likely set up this way to account for my growth spurts as I grow up. The small one I will probably wear currently. Is this what Father and Mother were referring to when they wanted me to try something on?
Next, neatly placed in the center of the box was a jeweled, sheathed rapier. Now I know why the box was long. Its scabbard was pure violet in color, and its handle was pearly white. I didn't know what it looked like on the inside, but it likely contained a very sharp and thin blade. Rapiers were among the thinnest swords out there. It was meant to strike with precision and accuracy, piercing your targets. It did make me wonder, did House Phoenix practice the Rapier, or was this Aurora's personal weapon that she received from the Auslese royalty? I'm leaning toward the latter. I guess her intention was to pass it down to me...
Toward the other end of the box sat two letters. One of them was smaller and wrapped, and had a home-y feel to it. The other letter was much larger. It had a stamped crest, the same phoenix symbol that was on the cover of the box. That meant this letter was something related to House Phoenix, while the other, perhaps a more personal letter from Mother directly? Was this her final will of sorts before she passed? A longing feeling began to rise up from within, but I didn't back down. Not when there were still more items for me to review.
The robes occupied the bottom half of the box. The sheathed rapier occupied the space right above that. The two letters were placed in the top right. In the top left, I saw two books. One was pitch black, while the other had, you guessed it, a phoenix on it. It was fiery red. This second book likely contained House Phoenix's personal history. As for the pitch black book, I gulped. There's no way...right? It couldn't be related to that forbidden series that even His Imperial Majesty keeps secret? Only a select few members of the Imperial Army is aware of its existence.
The Black Records. Was this black book part of its series? I had no idea, but I will need to look into it. Now's not the time, sadly. It's something I can do once I return from the place Father is taking to next. This wasn't the end of the contents either.
There was something placed in the very center of the box. It was as if all of this content was carefully placed inside, making sure I wouldn't miss any of it. This particular item was secured and tied with a white cloth. It was round, and a little heavy. Taking it out, I began to unravel it.
This...
No doubt about it. It was a personalized Combat Orbment. I was wondering how I'd procure one in the coming future, but now I don't need to worry about that. Really, was Mother planning on handing down everything to me when the time was right, and with that time being now? I also was very curious to see the number of slots it has. Father has his customized, and seeing it containing violet and blue hints within the pocket watch-like device, I have a feeling it is customized. I also need to figure out what generational model it is. We can only go up to Generation III or IV right now most likely. If it's Generation III, I might need to work with Father to upgrade it...
Seeing all of this before me, that nagging feeling inside grew. I felt a wave of emotion come over me.
'Mom...', I thought, feeling saddened. It really was a shame that I couldn't get to know my late Mother. Instead, I had Kasia. I'm not complaining, though. I love both Kasia and Aurora, regardless of who my Mother currently is. And I know passing down an inheritance can be a hassle, especially in my previous life. It typically involves lawyers, and written wills. But here in Zemuria, it isn't that fancy. Both Kasia and Giliath kept it safe and sound, and simply presented this to me when the time was right. If only Aurora was still around...
But that was all in the past. I was but a newborn baby at the time Aurora passed away. I can only accept what is now laid out in front of me. I'll honor Mother's wishes. Everything is present before me. I now have what it takes to dress like a prim and proper noble, so that is what I shall do!
Yet before I could proceed, I heard a few notifications sound off inside my mind, causing it to stir. I was greatly surprised. The Gamer System triggered, responding to me receiving these items. They didn't immediately land in my Inventory, but it still allowed me to see what the items were. I didn't expect to receive not one, but two Growth-type Equipment!
[Ding! You have received (Phoenix Robe - Growth Lv10 (1,200/14,200)]
[Ding! You have received (Glistening Moonlight - Growth Lv10 (1,200/14,200)]
[Ding! You have received (Combat Orbment Generation III - Custom)]
[Ding! You have received the Record of House Phoenix x1]
[Ding! You have received Black Record Vol EX x1]
'Two Growth-type Equipment right off the bat. You really are spoiling your son, aren't you?', I thought. Yet something else attracted my eyes. There appeared to be something buried beneath where the clothed Combat Orbment was. It was a tightly sealed leather sack.
'What is this?', I wondered. Once I picked the sealed sack up, I received one more notification, following another update to my Status.
[Ding! You have received twenty-five million Mira.]
[Ding! Gamer Naoto's Inventory has been updated and is now ready to view.]
'Bruh', I thought. Shock was written all over my face seeing this sack of money now in my hand. Giliath simply smiled, acting as if he had expected this reaction from me. He then began to speak, explaining what all transpired.
"Lady Aurora was pretty frugal with her money. She knew when to set some aside, and didn't actively flaunt it at others like certain other individuals like to do. She kept it secure, and allowed it to pile up. This was Lady Aurora's personal funds, not tied to the Treasury. It should be enough to give you a smooth ride during your future curriculum studies. We do have personal accountants under my name, so if you decide you want to invest in certain markets in the future, we can brush on that topic later on. We already have an account stored in IBC once you're ready to start using it too.", Giliath said, explaining the story to me.
"An account is already ready for me to use? Mom...", I replied, sighing again. She's really spoiling me from the heavens, isn't she? This ride is too smooth, if you ask me. But this is royalty we're talking about here. It's not like they won't have money to spend. Sounds like Aurora knew how to invest too. Twenty-five million Mira is a lot of money. Even orbal cars that will get thrown into the marketplace soon cost around, on standard, one million to three million Mira. I could definitely down pay a house like this if I really wanted to.
"And that's not all, son.", Giliath suddenly said, causing my thoughts to pause.
"There's more!?", I exclaimed in shock. Don't tell me, am I going to get my own orbal car or something and that I can't drive it until I get my license much further into the future? Giliath stayed calm at my excitement, and simply nodded his head.
"Indeed there is. Well, that smaller sealed letter you see will give you further detail about it. You see, Lady Aurora had a private villa of sorts. This villa wasn't heavily influenced by the Auslese royalty. Her Majesty the Queen insisted on hiring maids to help the upkeep on it, and that was it. It's a nice beachside house in the outskirts of Valleria Lakefront north of Liberl. One day, I might take you to it. For now, it's under Her Majesty the Queen's name. I feel she won't pass it down until the time is right for you. That place holds no purpose for the time being anyways.", Giliath explained, causing me to suck in a cold breath of air. I even glanced down at the smaller sealed letter. Part of me didn't even want to open it.
I didn't think I'd be getting a whole entire villa in my far future. Seriously. It's already starting to make my head spin. It was already enough giving me these few items and the money. Now you want to pass a whole house down to me!?
I could only sigh, seeing this outcome. Is this what it feels like to be fed a silver spoon? That's a popular trope in those eastern martial art stories, haha!
A/N: This is the private villa Naoto builds in the future near Valleria Lakefront. The very same one that will allow his royal harem to live and have fun inside. Instead of it happening in the future, I'm bringing it forward, now as part of the will left behind for him. The overall outcome will not change much.)
