Helplessness

After a few quiet minutes, Crown Prince Owine finished eating and rose to leave with his right-hand man who quietly sat beside him throughout the feast. "I enjoy the feast, Earl Asral," he said to the Earl who approached him. "I will see you around and... I will also send a gift for your daughter. I feel bad for coming empty-handed." His gaze was briefly on Lady Katrina as he talked but the latter was more than quick to look down so that she could avoid his gaze.

"Your presence is already the biggest gift, Your Highness. We won't ask for more," Earl Asral promptly responded as he respectfully bowed his head.

"Still... it would be thoughtless of me and it's not like I get to attend this kind of feast often," Owine simply argued before saying, "I will be leaving then. It's late and I bet your family would also need a good rest after such a grand feast." His lips curved into a smile that was hard to interpret as he added, "Especially your wife and your daughter."
