Chapter 7 The Gap

Carl wanted to say something more, but when he saw his cold face of Berkeley, he immediately shut up.

Then, the professor continued his lesson.

Looking at Jack, who was listening carefully in the classroom, Carl couldn't help gnashing his teeth in anger. 'How could this bastard be liked by his teaching? Why am I worse than him? I'm a genius.'

Moreover, Berkeley had been avoiding the key point of the problem from beginning to end!

There was no direct answer.

As their master, shouldn't he make things clear?

The more Carl thought about it, the angrier he became. He couldn't help coughing and continued to interrupt the class. He said with dissatisfaction, "Excuse me for asking, Berkeley magus, why are you so special to Jack? I want an answer!"

Everyone was stunned. Carl interrupted their class again. It seemed that he was very angry that Berkeley favored Jack.

Apprentice mage also understood that. After all, Carl was late. He was not only reprimanded but also punished to stand up for class.

Jack, on the other hand, was even later than Carl. He wasn't punished or scolded. No one else would feel balanced!

"Master Berkeley, as you said, the basic knowledge of magic is very important. We are all late. Why can Jack not be punished?" Carl asked angrily. In his eyes, it was unfair.

Berkeley's face darkened. "Carl, how can you talk to me like that? In my eyes, you are all my students. I have the same expectation for you."

Carl sneered in his heart, "Then why is Jack taken special care of while I am punished to stand still and listen to classes? Is master Berkeley related to Jack?"

The more Carl thought about it, the more unconvinced he became. Now he thought he was right.

"Are you doubting my fairness? Are you doubting my moral quality or my reliability of magic education concept?" Master Berkeley said with a smile, "Of course, your courage is worthy of praise. As a mage, you have to ask me some questions."

"However, if you don't even dare to face the problem, even if you are a genius, there is no point in it. The magic practice is like a roller coaster, which can only be grasped in extreme cases." Master Berkeley continued earnestly.

"I don't understand what you mean, but I still want to know why you treat Jack differently," Carl asked.

"I don't want to go too far on this matter." Master Berkeley said calmly, "In my opinion, every student is the same, and every student is different. Some students need to be encouraged, and some students don't need to be encouraged."

Carl snorted in his heart, 'What a high-sounding sentence! Mr. Berkeley just found an excuse to be perfunctory.'

"Mr. Berkeley, I think not only me but also the apprentice mages at present should be very concerned about this matter. After all, if you favor Jack so much every time, we apprentice will feel bad!" Carl asked tentatively.

Carl's words made many apprentice mage members secretly praise him in their hearts. They were all smart people. From the performance of Mr. Berkeley, they could guess that this student named Jack must have something to do with Mr. Berkeley. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been treated differently by Mr. Berkeley.

Hearing this, Berkeley frowned and then sighed, "Well, since you don't want to let it go, I'll help you solve your doubts. Jack, show me the magic shield you've learned!"

Berkeley didn't ask Jack to demonstrate magic weapons. After all, Jack didn't know that Berkeley had known that Jack also mastered magic weapons.

Hearing this, Jack walked up the stairs with his hands crossed over his chest. A strong light burst out from Jack's hands.

Countless magic stars appeared, illuminating the whole hall as if it was daytime. Everyone was stunned at this scene.

Although they had known that Jack had learned the magic shield, they were still shocked and even scared when they saw him use a magic shield. After all, a magic shield was something they were learning and had a deep understanding of.

The magic shield Jack used was not a low-level magic shield. The stable structure of the magic element made the magic shield look heavy and full of deterrence.

Moreover, the magic element of each section on the magic shield was so harmonious.

They merged like mercury pouring down to the ground.

Most importantly, according to the performance of the magic shield, they could see that the defensive power of the magic shield was far beyond that of the ordinary magic shield.

Carl was stunned by this scene. It had only been a while since Jack's magic shield was completed. It seemed to be more condensed and more powerful than before.

'Jack is so crazy?'

All the people present couldn't help but look at Jack up and down, wondering what kind of monster Jack was. He had made such rapid progress in just four days.

Carl's face turned deathly pale. Although he didn't want to believe it, he had to admit that Jack had not only mastered the magic shield, but also the level and power of the magic shield had increased by at least half in a short day.

He was frustrated. The gap between him and Jack was so huge that he felt desperate.

Seeing that Jack had cast the magic shield, Berkeley was satisfied. He nodded in his heart and thought, 'Jack has become stronger of mastering the magic shield in such a short time.'

Then he looked at Carl and said indifferently, "Do you have any other opinions now? If you can control the magic shield, I won't scold you no matter how late you are. But now, can you control it?"

"I." Carl stammered.

"Well, I hope you can remember that if any of you is as talented as Jack, I won't hold you accountable for some unimportant rules even if you offend me occasionally." Berkeley said seriously, "Do you remember?"

"Got it." All the students present answered in one voice.

Carl didn't dare to say anything more. As the saying went, "Teaching according to one's talent." If he could be as outstanding as Jack, then perhaps even if he was late, Berkeley wouldn't punish him.

All the apprentice mage members agreed that Berkeley was right.

The reason why geniuses were called geniuses was that they were different.

After class, Berkeley gave Jack a meaningful look and said, "Jack, come to my office with me."

Jack nodded and left with Berkeley.

Soon, he followed Berkeley into the office.
