Chapter 28

For three minutes before we left the place where Allen and Clause fought, I was pumping his chest like crazy, pushing 2 inches deep as the instructions said, but he really did not wake up.

"Mmm~ I'm the map. I'm the map. May the forest be with you."

At this time, I had no idea that the unconscious Clause and I were walking into a much bloodier scene.

'I could hear that humming again. It is closer than before.'

Ostensibly, the sound was just an inch away from my ears, whispering the melody of the song deep in my body and merging as one with my soul. My very existence is dancing to it, and I am exhilarated. But not a boner, okay?

As I was walking in the dim forest, feeling my steps, so cautious not to trip or lose my balance, I stepped on what I reckoned to be a splash of flowing water.

Other students will definitely not let us go unsearched. I doubt they would leave the unconscious friend of mine and me alone when everyone is in a dire situation after the mass stealing of flags. Chaos had been stirred in the whole forest, the shadow hiding the ferocious beasts from the poor tiny bunny who just wants to eat food.

A splash of water on my path won't stop me. I kept walking until I hit something hard on the ground that almost tripped me. I used my feet to

feel what it was without the help of a flashlight.

"Hmm, what's this squishy and hard texture? Is this shit, perhaps?! Eh? Someone shit on the forest?"

Since I was wearing shoes, I could vaguely tell what I was hitting with my feet until I decided to pull out my flashlight and light our path. And what I saw next was... grotesquely terrifying that I let go of Clause. I heard him thud on the ground as I fell on my butt with extreme fear and disgust written all over my face.

I felt that every hair on my body stood up, a cool breeze sent shivers all over my being, and it shook me down my core.

"A-A-A d-d-dead... body?!"

Clothes were torn apart, pieced of cloth scattered around the place, soaked in blood while the dead body laid flatly on the ground.

Hesitantly, my trembling hands with their flashlight slowly pointed the beam toward the person's face, and that was when I threw up, right after a quick glance at what the man had been reduced to.

"Bleugh!"

*Coughing*

It is a man, a student. His face was almost unrecognizable because of how messed up it was.

"Did an animal do this?!"

Brutally, the man's face was clawed, a small chunk of meat was torn, and his eyes were missing.

"Are you fascinated?"

Startlingly, a voice I don't know where came from echoed in my ears. I looked around vigorously to see who spoke, but I found none.

"Does this excite you? Isn't this glamorous? Hehehehe!"

Upon realizing a far more gruesome scene, I once again threw up due to the sickening state of the unknown student in front of me.

"Ahh, ahh... What to do? My thoughts are all jumbled! I can't think straight, and there is still this annoying humming in my ears!"

It was all fucked up. I am losing my sanity, but I have to bring Clause to the infirmary.

"My sanity is not important here right now!"

"Oh, Ira, Ira, Ira... Don't avert your gaze on the corpse, or you will never see something so beautiful again!"

It would just be a waste of time if I ever put up with the voice ringing inside my head. Ignoring it was the best thing to do, for I had an important thing to do. That is to deliver Clause to the clinic before it becomes all too late.

My legs! Oh, don't give up on me now! I'm begging you, please! I need to help my friend, so not now! Later, when all of this is done. Then give up for all I care!

I am racing against time, a time that is ticking both the two of us. It is a time bomb that would go off any second, and here I am feeling so weak and tired yet pushing myself to the brim just to save the only friend that I have.

Crawling my way towards the unconscious Clause as the voice kept repeating the same exact sentence in my head felt like a mile. It was as though I've been creeping all my life, being the pig that I am, walking on all fours.

But then I realized that I was nowhere near Clause, for I noticed how darkness was slowly closing in on me, filling the space in my mind with nothing but its absence. And this absence is what I am afraid of.

The absence of light inside my mind would eventually put me in a dark place and lock up my original existence and place a new insane one. One that is so cruel, devastating, and ruthless.

All of the thing that is occurring here in the forest are trying to bring something ominous to the surface. I can feel it in my whole body.

"Mmm..."

Clause? Wait, is he dreaming right now? What is it that you are trying to say? I can't hear you even though I had my ears close to your mouth.

Living in the province, away from the civilization and pollution, is one of the best things, for everything is all about nature.

When it is too hot, you can always go to the seaside to feel the heat, along with the cold salt water, or when it is too cold people can make a fire and enjoy themselves together, drink tea or coffee any time we want.

No noisy cars honking loudly on the road or neighbors singing to their hearts in karaoke while partying. However, there are still times when people around you get annoying. It is in human nature.
