An Explanation

"Explain?" The sheriff asked, throwing a glare toward Drake.

Drake just shrugged wrapping his arms around Ciri and resting his chin on her shoulder. Ciri smirked, before answering for him. She began to explain how they had met. When Drake was abroad studying, and how she'd taken a fancy to him. How she'd taken the initiative to get to know him, eventually asking him out on a date with the intention to marry when they both decided it was the right time.

The Sheriff and stiles' jaws hit the floor. Never would they have imagined that Ciri was the one to chase Drake. They couldn't help but compare the pair. Ciri was beautiful, absolutely so, she would put any supermodel to shame. Her beauty was otherworldly.

Drake on the other hand, though handsome, was wild and untamed, beastly was the word that came to mind. He was strong and powerful, physically and mentally. He protected the ones he loved and destroyed those that would bring harm to them. He was the perfect Alpha.

Again a specific title came to mind.

Beauty and the Beast.

The pair were so different, yet they fit perfectly together. Seeing Drake's massive frame wrapped around Ciri like a baby, the sheriff couldn't help but chuckle internally.

"Drake?" Stiles finally piped up.

"Hmm." Drake answered lazily while relaxing on Ciri.

"How do you know Allison and her family?" Stiles asked firmly. Drake's eyes narrowed but it was Ciri who answered.

"They're old friends, why do you ask?" Stiles continued to focus on Drake.

"Well, if they're just old friends, why was Drake wrapped around Allison when I visited her house yesterday?" Stiles asked accusingly. Ciri laughed, shocking Stiles. Turning to look at Drake.

"So it was you cuddling her yesterday, rather than what normally happens." Drake nodded.

"Am I missing something here?" Stiles asked confused, all while the Sheriff looked on in amusement at his sons. Ciri answered giggling to herself.

"Well, normally it's Allison searching out Drake for cuddles. It's how it's always been."

"Let me guess, you're asking about this because of McCall?" Drake's tone became slightly darker than normal.

"Well, Y-y-yes." Stiles stutters out. Drake growls and gets up, only to walk off to calm down. Ciri sighs.

"You'll have to excuse him, he's still annoyed with Mister McCall, for abandoning Alli at the party." Ciri explains, before continuing.

"We've known Allison and her family for quite some time and consider them family. Allison and Drake are especially close because of an incident that happened, which in turn made the pair very protective of one another. I'm sorry to say, Drake won't forgive what your friend did last night, any time soon." The sheriff sighed understanding what his son was like. Stiles sat there looking torn.

"So this is one hell of a house." The sheriff commented. Ciri smiled.

"That it is. Drake thought it was a little grandiose for his tastes, but I liked it, so we decided to buy it. Plus it's right next to the forest, so he didn't need much persuading." She explained.

"Wait? You both own it?" She nodded.

"That explains it then." The sheriff said. While Ciri smiled knowingly.

A short while later footsteps could be heard coming into the house. Ciri spoke.

"It would appear that Drake has finally calmed down."

Drake walked into the room, but he wasn't by himself, following him were two wolf-like creatures. Stiles was shocked at seeing the creatures walking beside his brother.

Seeing the two strangers in the house the wolves began to growl and bare their teeth, readying themselves to attack.

Drake sat down completely ignoring what was going on. Just when the wolves were about to attack, a voice stopped them.

"Girls, that's enough they're family."

With that the wolves calmed and trotted over to Drake, lying tucked up against Drake while he stroked them.

Noah and Stiles were in shock, Stiles more so than the sheriff; him having seen Drake act like this in the past. A flash of sadness appeared in his eyes as a memory of the day Drake's parents died resurfaced. The sadness soon disappeared though as he watched Drake pet and play with the wolves.

Meanwhile, Stiles sat there petrified. His eyes never leaving the wolves cuddled up to his brother.

"D-D-D-dad, I'm not seeing things, right? There are two wolves cuddled up to Drake, right?" Stiles asked nervously. The sheriff let out a light chuckle.

"No, you're not seeing things, Stiles. There really are two wolves sitting with your brother."

"Actually, there's only one wolf, the other one is a coyote." Ciri commented. Ciri's comment didn't help Stiles relax, in fact, it made him more nervous.

"Okayyyyyy..... But why are they in here? Where did they come from?" Ciri smirked.

"They originally lived in the forests at the back of the house, but they took a liking to Drake… like most animals, so they live with us now."

"You just let them live here?" Asked Noah.

"They're very loyal to Drake, not to mention protective; as you experienced earlier." Ciri smiled and Noah nodded in understanding. He never could wrap his head around Drake's affinity for animals, especially wild animals.

Hours went by as the group chatted. The sheriff was curious how the pair had afforded such a large house. Turning to face Drake and Ciri, he spoke.

"Drake, can I ask you a serious question?" Drake smirked.

"I mean technically you just did, but sure go ahead." Stiles chuckled at his brother.

"I know it may be rude of me to ask, but how did the pair of you afford this house?"

"I was wondering when you were gonna ask." Drake said while chuckling. He turned to Ciri and smiled.

"I'll let you handle this one love." Ciri smiled before answering.

"My family is fairly wealthy, so affording a small place like this isn't a problem." Both the sheriff and Stiles were left slack-jawed by her answer.

"You class this as small?" Stiles asked, unable to hold his question. Once again Ciri smiled and nodded.

"This is small compared to the home I grew up in as a child."

Memories of her childhood in Kaer Morhen surfaced in her mind.

"Were you raised in a castle or something?" Stiles says sarcastically, obviously joking. Ciri nodded answering the question unintentionally, due to being in a world of her own. Stiles's eyes widened.

"Seriously?" He asked in disbelief. Ciri threw apologetic eyes toward Drake realizing what she'd done, Drake just smiled, before answering for her.

"Yeah, seriously Stiles. Ciri doesn't exactly come from an ordinary family."

"How so?" Asked the sheriff. Drake sighed.

"Let's just say, she could buy a country and still have money left over." The sheriff ran his hand through his hair and across his face. He sighed.

"I should've expected this much." He says chuckling, making Drake laugh. Ciri got to changing the subject.

"So Stiles, Drake, and I will be starting at Beacon hills high, anything we should know?" Stiles looks at Ciri and then gazed at Drake before he burst out laughing, confusing everyone in the room.

His laughter finally dies down.

"Somehow I think you'll be fine, normally I would warn you to keep away from certain people but I think they'll be too scared to even come close to the pair of you."

"Hey, I'm not that scary." Drake whines indignantly.

"Tell that to all the people you beat up back when we were kids." Stiles snapped back. The sheriff sat there smiling at the exchange between his sons.

"Well I did warn them, it wasn't my fault they kept picking on you." Drake complained.

"True, still doesn't explain why you ended up beating some of their dads up too."

A look was exchanged between Drake and Stiles. A few seconds passed before their laughter broke out, filling the room.

A few more hours passed.

Stiles and Drake had caught up, while Ciri chatted to the sheriff.

It was finally time for them to leave. Stiles went and said his goodbyes and sat in his jeep. The sheriff hung back to have a word with Drake.

"The guys down at the station wanted me to thank you for what you did."

"They do know they don't have to thank me, right?" Drake asked.

"Course they do but they still will. Besides, they asked me to tell you to pop by the station and say hello when you've got some free time, apparently you made quite the impression on everyone." The sheriff chuckled. Drake just nodded and smiled before seeing him off.
