Magic (2)

Sarina (Grandma) POV:

Eethie is now two years old; he is growing well.

Last month, he asked me to teach him about magic. I was shocked when I first heard that he was interested in magic. From my experience as a mother, two-year-old kids don't seem to care about their surroundings. Generally, they eat, play, and sleep.

'Well, he is special after all.'

It also made me happy that he was doing well despite not having his parents around.

'It would have been great if they could be here.'

'We don't even know how they are.' I sighed.

As I had these thoughts, Eethie came to the room shouting,

"Grandma, today is the promised day."

'Here, he comes.'

When he entered the room, he had a smile on his face,

'He inherited the silver hair of his mother and the sharp golden eyes of his father. His chubby cheeks made him even cuter. He looked cute, regardless of what face he made. '

'There is no telling how many women will fall for him in the future.' I sighed again.

'Well, he can have as many wives as he likes. And I will then watch my great-grandchildren playing around in the house.'

"Grandma! Grandma!"

I came out of my thoughts when I heard his voice.

"I know. Come here." I smiled, putting down the book I had in my hand.

'Wake up, old hag. Here, you are thinking about his children when he is just two years old.'

Without saying anything, he came closer to me. As soon as he reached my side, I picked him up and placed him on my lap.

"Do you want to know about magic?"

"Yup" He nodded.

"I don't know if you will be able to understand all the things that I am going to teach you today."

"You don't need to worry about that, grandma," he said.

"If you say so," I sighed.

I smiled as a sudden thought occurred to me.

"Fine, I will teach you about magic but first, tell me how much you know about magic? I know you're reading books about magic."

"Fine by me."

Having said these words, he began to tell me what he knew.

"Mana is used to performing magic, and it resides in the atmosphere..."

I was surprised by how much he knows. The more he explained, the more surprised I became.

After a few minutes of explanation,

"Grandpa is an enhancer and..."

He looked towards me and said,

"… Grandma, on the other hand, I can't tell in which category you belong since you use both water magic and healing magic."

I could only smile at his words since I was speechless.

He took a short break after saying those words and then continued.

It took him an hour to finish talking.

When he stopped talking, the room suddenly became silent.

'He knows almost everything a seven-year-old has trouble remembering.'

'Does it have anything to do with his power? Nah, that's not possible. Understanding and remembering things depends solely on the individual, not on any external factor.'

'Nevertheless, even if he comprehends things better than other children of his age, he is still only a two-year-old.'

I contemplated for several minutes but couldn't find a reasonable answer,

"Grandma! Grandma!" He called.

Upon hearing Eethie's voice, I came out of my thoughts.

"Y...yeah"

"Are you listening to me?"

"Yes, grandma is listening. I was just surprised at how much little Eethie knows about magic." I said.

After listening to my words, he smiled.

His smile made me smile as well.

"You already know pretty much everything about magic, so what do you want to learn more about?" I asked.

"I want to know how a person would know whether they are a mana user or an aura user? How would a person awaken their mana pool? How a person would determine whether they are an enhancer or emitter, and last but not least, how ranking systems work."

"These are pretty good questions from a two-year-old," I said.

"I will answer your question, but first you have to answer my questions,"

"This is unfair. At first, you wanted me to tell you how much I know about magic, now this. Do you intend to answer my questions or not?"

He turned his head furiously toward the other side of the room.

Seeing his face, I hugged him from behind and kissed his cheek.

"Fine, I'll answer your questions first, so don't make that face."

After hearing my words, a smile appeared on his face.

"Now, let's start with your first question. It is quite simple for a person to know whether they are a mana user or an aura user. The person needs to close their eyes and feel the energy around them. It might take a few days to feel the energy around them…."

"… The moment they begin to feel the energy, they must determine whether it originated outside or inside the body. If it originated outside the body and moved in, that means a person is a mana user. If it originated within and made a layer of energy surrounding the body, that means a person is an aura user."

Second, for a person to awaken their mana pool, they need to gather enough energy in their solar plexus. Once enough energy has been collected, the mana pool will awaken. The same is true for Aura users. To connect with their soul, they must gather enough energy in their solar plexus. Once enough energy is gathered, they can tap into their soul's power."

"Third, when an enhancer is first awakened, a repelling force forms around them, showing they have dominant mana channels. Emitters, on the other hand, form a vacuum of mana around them, which means that their mana veins are much more dominant. The degree of their pushing force and vacuuming force is determined by their talent."

"And last, To measure a person's strength we take a few things into account like magic control, type of element a person has, magic sensing, and a person's fighting style."

-----------

"An individual's ability to manipulate their mana or aura is called magic control."

"Magic sensing refers to the amount of mana or aura one can sense from their surroundings or opponents. The sharper a person's senses, the more powerful he or she becomes."

"Fighting styles describe the type of fighter a person is. Is he or she a martial artist, a swordsman, or a mage, for instance."

"That's all you need to know,"

"Are you satisfied now?" I asked.

"Yeah"

"Then answer a few of my questions."

"Alright," He said.

"Do you feel any pain in your right arm?"

"No"

"Have you ever felt intense pain in your head?"

"Y..yeah," He hesitantly said.

"When? And why didn't you tell me?" I asked anxiously.

"It happened when I was 6 months old,"

"Well, you can't speak at that time, so that can't be helped." I sighed when I heard his words.

'It may be because of his powers.'

"After that, did you experience any headaches?"

"Nothing like that happened again."

Having said that, he asked,

"But grandma, why are you asking about these things?"

"It is nothing important, I just want to make sure that my little Eethie is doing well."

"If you say so." He said.

After a few seconds of silence, I asked,

"Do you want to know about other things in the world?"

"Yeah" He nodded.

"Fine, I will tell you about that."

He smiled as he heard my words.

"Let's begin with the occupation. The two most popular occupations among awakeners are becoming an adventurer or a soldier. Those who are awakened often strive to become adventurers. Being an adventurer came with many benefits like money and power, social status and other things."

"Adventurers are categorized based on their class. It starts from E class and goes up to SS class."

"Grandma, how does one become an adventurer?" He asked.

"You need to join a guild, and they will rank your ability. After that, you will receive an adventurer license."

"Being an adventurer is very dangerous since you risk your life every time you enter a dungeon. That's why some people choose to become soldiers. Until there is a war, soldiers have fewer life-risking tasks."

"As for dungeons, they are underground labyrinths with high concentrations of dark sinister energy that appear at random places. They are always swarming with monsters. Sometimes, they have an artifact at their core."

"The older the dungeon, the more dangerous it became. Dungeons are also classified from E class to SSS class."

"For now, that's all you need to know,"

As I ended my elaboration, I said.

"Keep in mind that what I told you is only a small part of this world. Our knowledge of the world is limited, and there are many things we have yet to discover, as well as answers to questions we do not know."

-----------

"Do you have any questions?"

"I don't have questions about the things you said, but there is one thing I'm curious about."

"What is it?"

"Grandma, why does my right arm always have a bandage on it? And even when I tried to remove it, it wouldn't come off."

He pointed at the bandage on his right arm.

When I heard his words, I smiled.

"You'll know when you're old enough."

Hearing my words, he had a disappointing face.

Seeing his face, I said.

"Remember, Eethie, no matter how strong you become, treat the people around you with respect because they will help you when times get hard–" I paused before continuing.

"You might not understand what I'm saying now, but keep this in mind when you do. Alright?"

"Okay, grandma. I'll keep that in mind." He said with a serious face.

'He's cute even when he's serious.'

"You can go play now. Grandma has some work to do."

"Alright, thank you grandma for the lesson."

He smiled as he walked out.
