Chapter 18: A Dangerous Proposition

When Lily woke up on Monday, although her bruises had disappeared entirely and her head was clearer, her stomach was still off. She made herself oatmeal for breakfast, and as she sat down to eat, just the smell of it turned her off. Something still wasn't right with her.

She wondered if she should see a doctor. But what would she say? That she was in a plane crash on Friday and almost died, but now she was fine? She would have to talk to Greer first. She’d laid low for the rest of the weekend, but right now she needed to speak to him.

As she stepped outside her building, she ran into her neighbor, Mr. Halpern, who was on the sidewalk grumbling over his car. "Look at this," he complained when he saw Lily. "I went out shopping yesterday and forgot to move my car. So now they've locked it up, and they're towing me. What's the city coming to when they take away an old man's car?"
