Once the Dark Board was gone and Greer shut the door on Warren and Janus, Lily turned to Greer, glad to be alone with him again. "Do you think they will help find Gavin?" she asked nervously.
"It's worth a try," he answered.
"So, Janus is an interesting person," Lily said casually, clearing the glasses off the table.
"She's very mysterious," Greer said. "I've known her for more than a decade, and I still couldn't tell you much about her."
"But you're sure she's on your side?" Lily asked.
Greer gave her an impatient look. "She's never given me any reason to think otherwise."
Was that a jab at her? Lily wondered, admiring a bouquet of white roses nestled inside cherry blossom vines on the table. Then, suddenly, she remembered something. "I think I might know where Gavin is hiding," she cried, momentarily forgetting about Janus.
