Chapter 33: Drunken Cowboys

Rainy’s POV

Cass walks up to me during the dinner rush. She looks sweaty and unhappy. She’s got a round serving tray folded under her arm.

This is the first time I have seen her look so overworked. I know she needs more help and is afraid to call staff and offer extra shifts, so I text Bron.

Rainy: Hey, can you come down and help out? It’s really busy and your manager is afraid to ask her staff for help.

Bron: Of course! I’ll be right there. Anything to spend extra moments with you.

I smile inside and out. Bron really does have my back. It’s not just a bunch of words. I am really beginning to trust him again after the dinner incident.

And I still do not know who sabotaged my painting. It gives me a deep pang of anxiety in my solar plexus whenever I think about seeing Veronica again. Deep down I feel it was her, not Carnelian.

Carnelian has no reason to be jealous or to hurt me, and Veronica seems to think of Bron as more than just her protector and family. He is her hero.
