Chapter 28: Savage Questions

*Nathaniel*

The vampire in my grip squirms as I force him onto the ground. The others are running away, but they don’t matter now. I have one, and that’s all I need. I twist his arm behind his back, reveling in the way he winces, and pin him to the ground.

His head cracks against the rock and stone with a crunch. It doesn’t hurt him or causes permanent damage but digging his face into the gravel like substance makes me feel just a little better. At the very least, it feels like this is what he deserves for killing those humans.

For a fraction of a moment, I wonder if he’s feeling the same fear he put his victims through. I lean down and hover a foot or so away from his ear.

“You don’t get to leave yet. We have some questions for you,” I growl. It is difficult to intimidate a creature who can live forever, and I feel myself delight when he begins to shake. No response.
