Chapter 49: Coffee Talk

Rowan woke when the hand she was reaching out to Fyn’s side of the bed hit nothing but air. She sat up and blinked her sleep blurry eyes to bring the bed into focus. There was no one there. Not even Burger was in the room with her.

She had never felt so alone. After last night she thought that she surely wouldn’t wake up alone. But Fyn must have had to go to work early, and Rowan tried not to feel too bad about it, but she couldn’t help missing him.

Pushing herself out of the bed before she fell back to sleep, she looked at the clock on her phone. It was a lot earlier than she was used to, and she was more than tempted to go back to sleep. Then the memory of her house hit her, and she no longer felt the urge to sleep.
