Fyn stepped out of the woods, completely dressed and still trying to decide whether or not to talk to Cass. He was so deep in thought that he almost missed Rowan walking by him. 


“Hey!” he called in surprise. “Where are you going?”


Rowan pointed back towards her house. “I need to grab my car to head into town. I want to pick up my check from work.” 


Fyn frowned at her. “I’ll take you if you give me a minute.” 


“No, no. Don’t worry about it. My house is just up the road, and I’ll be back before you know it. I just want to grab my check and talk to Glenna for a moment,” Rowan insisted, then pointed inside the house. “Besides, I think your brother is wanted to talk with you. He has been watching for you.”


Fyn nodded absently. He probably needed to talk to his brother as well. But that didn’t seem as important as keeping Rowan close by. Especially now that he knew what was after her. 


“Just give me a moment, and I’ll take you,” Fyn insisted.
