Chapter 80: The Search and The Compound

A light tapping on Cass’s hotel room door had him jumping out of bed and jerking it open in one smooth move. The familiar man on the other side jumped slightly at the sudden movement but recovered quickly.

“Cass,” the man said with a nod.

“Lance,” Cass replied, startled by the sight of him.

He knew his father would be sending a group of shifters to help him out. But the last person he thought he would see was Lance. Lance was a childhood best friend and happened to be the brother of Lucilla, the woman Cass had planned on mating with.

Cass hadn’t planned on telling Lance what had happened to his sister until Cass had managed to bring Lucilla home. But here he was, standing in front of Cass with a dark expression. Seeing Lance brought on a huge wave of guilt in Cass, and he couldn’t even begin to guess how the man was feeling, having just learned the true fate of his sister.

“Lance, I—”

“We’re in the parking lot, ready to go whenever you are,” Lance interrupted Cass.
