Chapter 13: Wait and See

Over the weekend, Nico had to stop himself half a dozen times from texting Rebecca, asking for hints.

But then, on Sunday night, he was surprised to get a text from her.

*I have some ideas about tomorrow, but I wanted to ask... do you have any phobias? I don’t want to plan for skydiving and find out you’re deathly afraid of heights.*

He’d chuckled aloud. *You’ve been in my office,” he’d texted back. *I wouldn’t be on the eighth floor if I was afraid of heights. :) No phobias.*

*Okay, good to know,* she’d replied.

*Are we going skydiving, then?* he asked.

*Nope. I’m not exactly afraid of heights but jumping out of a plane is way outside of my comfort level, and I don’t want to have a heart attack watching you do it, either.*

He’d been oddly touched by that remark. *I’m okay with not skydiving,* he wrote back. *I’m not a fan of flying in general. Not phobic, but I’m usually too cramped, even in first class.*

*Vannevar doesn’t have a private plane?*
