Nico opened the manila folder again and took out more papers. “This is the prenuptial agreement.” He handed her another document. 


“I... had to give the lawyers some details about your situation so they could prepare it. All the particulars are protected by attorney-client privilege, though,” he added hastily. 


This document was only a few pages long and written in much clearer language than the will. Rebecca scanned the first page and nearly passed out when she saw the dollar amounts listed. 


She looked up at him, blinking in shock. “You can’t be serious.” 


“Nico...” She looked down at the document again, wondering if she had misread the first time. But no, there it was, in black and white. “This says you’re going to pay all of my outstanding debts *and* give me five million dollars.”  


“It’s not enough?” he asked. There wasn’t a trace of humor on his face or in his eyes.
