Chapter 51: The Comeuppance

Rebecca swallowed nervously as she opened the door to Sumo Sushi the next afternoon. She carried a large black duffle bag, stuffed nearly to bursting, and it hung heavy over her shoulder as she scanned the restaurant. It was empty, other than two men in khakis and polo shirts—one maroon, one gray—sharing a dragon roll, and Blaze, sitting in the same booth he’d been in before.

She made her way over to the table quickly and dropped into the seat across from him.

“Hey, Becky,” he said with an insolent grin. He’d changed his hair again, this time to a light brown with subtle golden highlights. “I see you got my message.”

“Hello, Blaze,” she said stiffly.
