Like A Kid

Approximately 11.7 inches in width and 16.5 inches in height, the brown paper had neatly arranged writings.

As soon as Tang Chen lay his eyes on it, one familiar signature was placed on the bottom of the paper.

"Tang."

Surged with killing intent, he tried to wave his sleeves on the servant.

But at the same time, when Tang Chen lay his eyes on the paper, the servant was already channeling his energy, biting one pill and gripping one escape talisman.

When they exchanged a glance, massive energy pumped in the area beneath the servant's foot, ejecting him toward the stair instantly.

The servant quickly slithered outside and broke the ceiling. A big hole formed.

Letting a faint scoff, Tang Chen jumped through the hole. He lifted both hands, reaching out for the fleeting man.

Soon, an oppressive aura started to pin the servant down in the air.

But he ripped the talisman from his right hand. He bolted farther from the emperor.

Enraged, Tang Chen growled as the clouds turned gloomy. A massive wave came from the opposite direction toward him.

At the end of this direction was the fleeting servant. Helplessly flung toward Tang Chen. Then he swallowed the pill in his mouth. Giving a boost of strength.

His complexion turned red, and a surge of power was injected into his arms. Flung it crudely, the servant barely broke the wave and slipped in the right way.

Tang Chen couldn't waste more time. He lifted his right hand as a spear appeared out of nowhere.

Tang Chen launched the spear with all his might injected by his energy.

A trail of blinding light flashed in the sky, successfully piercing the man's chest in an instant.

"Who dares to expose my secret?"

With a cold glare, Tang Chen watched the man's body fall along with the golden spear.

After that, Tang Chen returned to the underground room in Okaka Restaurant. Reading the same paper, he knew well that this paper was not a real one. But the content was real.

It was one of the conversations between him and the secret organization that supported the empire's expansion—this very brown paper letter.

He spent his time reading all the remaining papers that night.

The next day. The third day of Mao Nianzu in Rocky Mountain.

There was a rumor in the city. Related to the last night phenomena.

A ray of blinding light with two indistinct figures in the sky. Many said it was a fight between experts.

The thing is, people knew no one would cause a commotion during the emperor's celebration.

The emperor also unlikely did it because it happened in a not-so-attractive area—just a bunch of stores.

And if the emperor did, what was the motive of him doing that personally when he had many powerful servants?

Besides, it happened not long after the banquet of bigshots and emperor had finished.

"Did you see it? I woke up because of it," said a vegetable seller.

"I saw it! I haven't slept yet when that happens. It's so dazzling that I went blind for a moment," the customer replied.

As many were gossiping about the phenomena, the emperor enjoyed his time in the hall accompanied by delicacies and female servants. But his mood was sour. The servants were trembling, afraid if they displeased the emperor and got beheaded abruptly.

Of course, Tang Chen's generals that heard the news immediately knew that it was his doing. However, they did not understand why he did so.

Furthermore, the servant he killed was one of the most loyal servants he had. No fool would throw such a priceless loyalty for no reason.

It made the generals and powerful servants who stayed in the majestic hall have ugly expressions.

If the emperor easily killed even a loyal subordinate, what was the point of serving him? They didn't know how to act anymore.

Life hung by a thread.

But they kept their anxiousness inside their mind. On a daily basis, these generals obeyed the emperor's teachings and commands like the usual. Still, they rolled assumptions in their mind.

Such as, the departure of the genius fiancée made the emperor lonely and impatient, thus affecting his temperament.

In addition to the absence of the Supreme Elder, Misty Flowery Palace's genius was also absent and worsened his mood. This was one guess why the emperor's mood turned sour.

As an emperor, Tang Chen knew that the existence of both figures had a big impact on the bigshots. After all, these bigshots were booty lickers with boundless greed!

The Supreme Elder's fame soared high, piercing the sky. The genius beauty was like a rare sight to see, as though a seclusive goddess had descended.

It would be a great disappointment for those who expected to see them if both were absent.

One female servant poured a glass of wine in his jade cup respectfully. Tang Chen then drank it with a plain expression.

"Am I that unimportant? To think you'll suddenly walk away in my joyful moment, Luo Xiulan." Tang Chen gripped the cup, and it immediately shattered into pieces. "Tell me where Luo Xiulan go!"

Lifting his hands in the air respectfully, one old man lowered his head, saying, "Your Majesty, Luo Xiulan visits Rocky Mountain."

'Rocky Mountain?' Tang Chen lifted his brows while listening to his advisor. "Is there any event going on?"

"No particular event is being held, your majesty." The man said. "I am ashamed I can't gather more information."

"No need." Tang Chen waved his sleeve. "She's a genius from a seclusive sect. Naturally, many things are done in secrecy."

He stood up. Slightly pacing back and forth. Then he stated, "I'll visit this Rocky Mountain."

The advisor lowered his head and immediately went to arrange the emperor's departure.

On the wooden gazebo. Under a shady tree and a large yard in front of it.

Mao Nianzu was eating a simple meal. There was steamed chicken with fresh mushrooms and a teapot of white tea. He enjoyed the beautiful scenery with Tian Shen.

Although he felt awkward at first with the stranger named Tian Shen, Mao Nianzu gradually got along and adapted to him.

Besides, he couldn't whine over it and dropped the topic of being the Young Master out of nowhere. And so far, the treatment he received couldn't be better.

In his vision, many children were giggling while running around. A smile blossomed on the face of the adults around them.

These adults softly chuckled sometimes or shook their heads helplessly. They all strode passing this wooden gazebo in the distance.

One child noticed Mao Nianzu's gaze. Then he pulled the sleeve of a middle-aged woman, pointing at Mao Nianzu while jumping happily.

The middle-aged woman traced the tiny index finger and found two elegant men in black and red robes, enjoying a meal and smiling at her. She quickly smiled wryly and lowered her body, then dragged this child that kept pointing at Mao Nianzu with a wide grin.

When this child told his friends, the other children looked at Mao Nianzu and paused for a moment. Soon, like flower blossoms in the morning, their faces gradually formed a smile, giggling cutely.

Mao Nianzu's heart melted at the sight. He stared at the steamed chicken and looked back at the kid. Then he raised his right hand, waving backward to call them over.

Seeing the wave, the children cheered and immediately rushed to him. But the adults exchanged a glance and sighed. They eventually approached them.

"Hihi, hello!" said one ponytail girl. She bowed, then smiled.

"Hi, how's your day? Have you eaten yet?" Mao Nianzu offered his food to them. Then, a spark of amazement flashed as the children said.

"Whoa... it looks delicious. Can I eat it?"

"Me too! Me too!"

"Hey, I want one! I have eaten little."

"No, it's for me!"

The children started to fight among themselves. Mao Nianzu just grabbed one tiny palm and put meat inside it. He also did the same to others, and naturally, the fight died down.

The children obediently sat and enjoyed their meal. During this, they whispered to each other while secretly glancing at him.

Of course, these little rascals couldn't escape from Mao Nianzu's eyes. But he let them be, as he also enjoyed his time. But then, one boy spoke out.

"Big brother, do you know there's a rice on your cheek?" The boy said while laughing. "Even I won't do that. You're like a kid, big brother!"

"Yes! Big brother is careless!"

"Hehe, looks like big brother does not realize it!"

The rest children confirmed cheerfully.

'Oh, these brats are laughing because of this rice.' The corner of Mao Nianzu's mouth slightly twitched. He wiped his cheek and found one rice.

"You also have something in your cheek." Mao Nianzu reached out to the boy's cheek and then revealed the rice that had just stayed on Mao Nianzu's cheek. "See? What is this?"

"That's cheating, big brother! I only eat chicken. There's no way I'll have rice on my face." the boy was flustered in embarrassment. The other children burst into laughter.

Then, the adults arrived and bowed. They're all middle-aged adults.

"I'm sorry for the disturbance." The middle-aged woman, who smiled at Mao Nianzu in the distance before, spoke.

Mao Nianzu smiled, saying, "It's alright. We, adults, have to ensure their happiness. This is nothing."
