"So…"

He moved to open a small hard case set on a bench on the side, that Ayaka hadn't really noticed before – neither the bench nor the case on it – taking out something that looked like a short, thick rod wrapped in silk. A tanto dagger, Ayaka realised, recognising the general shape, if not much else.

Sue reverently unfolded the silk, polishing the lacquered and gold inlaid sheath as her did, explaining something about it that Ayaka latter could not remember.

He pulled the blade eventually, walked back to Ayaka, carrying the weapon on his open palms, showing it to him, enthusing about the double sided, katana like edge, unusual in the shortest weapon in the trinity of katana, wakizashi and tanto.

"This is beauty taken form," he whispered, "and it will slice anything. Anything!"

Taking the tanto by its grip in one hand, he pulled the handkerchief out of the chest pocket of his suit, shook the impossibly thin, translucent fabric open.
