Chapter 21

By the time Zoey and Ruby reached the ice cream store and ordered their cones, Zoey was back to feeling normal. Ruby couldn't contain herself any longer. "So, when are you going to tell me what you were looking for in Aunt Flory's room?" she asked, nibbling the edge of her cone as they squeezed into a booth.

"You said you weren't interested," Zoey answered.

"Does it have something to do with our father?"

"Maybe," Zoey answered. "I can't stop thinking about what Justin Philbert said. Do you think Mr. Barton actually believes our father lives here in Leamington? And why does he feel guilty?"

Ruby snorted. "I knew that was the reason for your snooping. Don't worry, I won't squeal on you, but for the record, I think you're going too far. You know how Aunt Flory feels about her privacy."

Out of the corner of her eye, Zoey noticed two women approaching their booth. Great. 'They were two of the town's biggest busybodies.'
