Chapter 38: Void (Part I)

There’s no light. A cloud of dark that looms over us, showing no sign of clearing any time soon.

I thought I’ve seen it all, everything that one can in their first eighteen years of life. Lying. Cheating. Death. Hate. Loneliness. Somehow, none of that beats the energy of this place, this Abyss. It’s all of that a hundred times over. Cruel and sickening.

I’ve only been here for a few seconds, and I already want to leave, go back home to my family, my plants, and the friends that I made in the past month.

But it’s impossible to leave. I’m here. We’re here, buried in some ancient morbid place not a single soul can escape from, supposedly.

Iris and I step out of the elevator, greeted by a void. Something worse than white walls, white floors, and white ceilings. Nothing. No direction. No corners. No long hallways that seem to last forever because there aren’t any signs. There’s no floor to see.

The Abyss lives up to its name.
