Chapter 41: Imbalance

I wake up from a long dream. A nightmare, only to fall into another nightmare, where the world, this small town is being torn to pieces. Shoved into a blender and swallowed whole by the shadows, the imbalance of dark.

It has become too much now. Behind the clouds, the sun rests unnoticed, weeping as it can’t see the wreck below it, worried for its human and Mystic earth residents. It burns, aches, like I do. What happened here?

The farther we walk down the streets of town, the more things become unrecognizable, thrown into the fire. Only the ashes are left that scatter the ground. The ashes of loss and despair.

“We’ve been away for just a few hours,” Iris mutters, an arm wrapped around my shoulders. “Mika, you don’t think…”

“I don’t know what to think, Iris. Let’s just head to the hideout, yeah? Figure out what’s going on.”

Iris nods, and we continue down the road.
