Hundreds of years ago, a race of supernatural beings called Mystics and humans went to war, almost resulting in the extinction of Mystic-kind. The Council, often seen as the Gods of all Mystics, created a rule that would prevent this from occurring again-Mystics must mask as human and can't interact with other Mystics to lessen the chance of exposure. Their existence is now only ever written as myth.

Michaela (Mika) Corey is an eighteen-year-old Druid who lives her life pretending to be human. She's loyal to the rule, but the seclusion puts her in a box she struggles to fit into. THE DIVIDE

Iris tells me that the Council aren’t as strong on earth compared to the unstoppable power they possess on the Mirror World of the Divine. They can no longer see every single Mystic, watch over their shoulders, see where they are at every given second—according to stories and rumors. I’m not sure anymore that they actually have this capability. Iris says that they don’t, but do at the same time, not to the extent that we think. 


They only see our shadows and silhouettes. Nothing more.


On earth, they can still manipulate minds to do their bidding, to do what they want—fight in this war. They take over minds, haunt them until they’re empty and void of thoughts, then control them. It takes a lot of focus, and energy, but being their immortal and emotionless selves, their focus is difficult to break, unless they’re killed.
