Chapter 12: Isaac's Comfort is Sean's Despair

“No, it is not better,” Sean declared. Did Isaac really think that? He knew celebrities had fickle reputations, but he thought he’d proved to be different over the years.

Though, he didn’t have much room to talk considering the deal he’d made with his father. What he could say to make this better without being an outright liar?

“I told you before, I’m not that special. You’re the one who rushed into a dangerous situation to save a stranger’s life. That’s more impressive than everything I’ve done. And you have the patience to work in retail full time, and the dedication to write a book on top of that. Those are major accomplishments.”

Isaac’s face started to redden, and he turned to face the counter and put his back to Sean.

Sean pulled on Isaac’s shoulder and made him turn around. “You’re so happy, all the time, it makes everyone around you happy. I love your smile, and the way you talk.”
