Chapter 33: Isaac Would Like Less Problems

Isaac had to admit, he wasn’t expecting Sean’s explanation to be anything like that. “You’re trying to get out of your conservatorship so you can access your own money?”

“Yes,” Sean said. “It would mean I’d be free from my father. I could live my life the way I want to.”

Isaac tried to wrap his mind around it. On some level, he understood why Sean had used him like that. Being trapped in a world he didn’t want to be in had to be hard, and Isaac had picked up enough clues about Eric Winters to never want to meet the man.

But he couldn’t forgive Sean for taking advantage of him and leading him on, either.

“Thank you for telling me,” Isaac said. “But I’m still mad at you.”

Sean shut his eyes. “That’s fair. I…apparently could have gone about this whole thing differently and been honest from the beginning. It would have saved both of us a lot of heartache if I had.”
