Chapter 83

POV: ENOLA

"Why does it look like you're getting off?" Jimmy asked with furrowed brows.

He looked less like an attending nurse and more like a first-grade detective about to crack a case.

"That's because I am," I told him in a whisper.

He looked at his watch then eyed me suspiciously as I cleared my table. "Last time I checked, you don't get off till -"

"Last time I checked, you still owe me for the Chavez incident." I sneered.

He laughed nervously, then, "This makes us even right?"

"Not in a million years. But it's a good start." I said giving him a gentle pat on his broad shoulders.

"I assume I have to cover up for you too." He scoffed.

"That goes without saying. Keep it up and we might just be even before we're both old and grumpy."

"Aren't you forgetting something?" He asked sounding cocky.

I turned around from the doorway to see he was waving my phone in his left hand. Oh, boy.
