The room was like a showroom filled with tons of items. All of them had a similar glow. No wonder the room didn't have any windows. If it did, then the light would constantly flash even during the night which may attract other people.
The old lady then said, "People of this village think that the beasts won't enter the village just because of that puny fence…"
"But they don't realize what is actually keeping them away.", she said as she smiled.
Leo was smart, he instantly understood what she meant.
He asked, "Grandma, then does that mean there are Beast Tools that keep the Beasts away?"
She nodded her head as she sat on a chair that was in the room.
She then said, "The high-level beast tools that repel the beasts are present right near the fences."
"Leko was the one who installed them.", she said.
The moment the lady mentioned Leko's name, Leo's expression changed.
"You should have brought him here when you came to return the knife."
"It would have been pleasant to have a chat with him. Haha, he used to come daily to talk with me, I wonder what kept him away today.", she said.
"Um, Grandma, did you forget that he was beaten up?", Leo asked while refraining from telling the news about his death.
Grandma then suddenly remembered.
"Oh yes! He-"
"Ya, those people hurt him! How is he? Did he visit any doctor?", she asked all of a sudden.
Leo realized that not only was the old lady's lower parts paralyzed, but also, she was suffering from time to time memory loss which was quite common for someone old.
"Yes."
"He will…"
"He will visit a doctor soon…", Leo said in a low voice.
She smiled and said, "Then ask him to come and talk to me after he is healed."
"He is the only one with whom I talk in this old age, haha.",
Leo's eyes were filled with tears. At any moment his face would have been drenched by them, but before it could happen, he controlled himself.
Leko was a good man. He lived his life righteously and helped almost everyone in the village.
The building that was made for the orphanage, was thanks to the little money that most of the villages gave despite being poor. Of course, it was all Leko's hard work.
He used to visit different villages and even cities to learn different things.
The grandma, who was a Toolmaker, was also found by him. Yes, other than him, no one knew her identity.
Leko asked her to make tools that would prevent beasts from flocking inside the city, and in the name of making a fence, he installed those tools near them, underground.
Of course, the villagers believed that it was thanks to the fences that attacks of the beasts had been reduced, but the reality was completely different.
In any case, now that Leko was no more, the old lady wouldn't have a companion to speak with.
Leko, when visiting different places, he would make sure to inform the lady in advance that he wouldn't be able to come and talk. But this time, he didn't inform me about being late or absent for a talk.
The old lady assumed that it had happened because he was hurt, but little did she know that Leko was no more.
When Dragon Eyes reached level 2, Leo gained a new ability – to see through small objects.
Of course, this let him see inside Leko's body as well.
His ribs were broken but that wasn't what caused the death. The heart and the lungs, that were pierced by the ribs were the actual reason for Leko's death.
Leo had seen this but did not comment since he couldn't do anything.
"Okay Son, you can take a look around."
"Also, if you like it, you can take any one of the beast tools…", she said with a smile.
Well, she was soon going to die as she was quite old already.
She didn't have any kids nor had adopted anyone. So she was thinking about writing a will to make all the beast tools in the name of the orphanage. After the beast tools were sold, all the money would be used for the development and welfare of the orphanage and the children.
Needless to say, she had no issue with Leo taking one of the beast tools.
She sat quietly as Leo started observing the tools.
Some of them were decorated on the wall while others were placed on tables.
Leo took a closer look at them.
'Dragon eyes…'
He activated his dragon eyes right after which, the glow on the tools changed.
Dragon Eyes could even analyze the quality and purity of energy. Leo used this to his advantage to take a look at the best tools and indeed, he found 3 tools in total that looked like top tier!
One of them was a bracelet which had a red gemstone imbued on it, another was a necklace that had a shiny blue gemstone attached to it, and finally, a ring which was silver in color and looked quite normal when compared to others, but radiated the purest form of energy.
Unfortunately, he was asked to choose only one, but he could hardly take his eyes off of the three tools and wanted to take them.
'I shouldn't be greedy…', and as he thought this, another thought which contradicted himself popped into his mind.
'But if I can get three beast tools, it would be better! Since grandma has o visiters, then I don't think she will deny…'
'I think I should ask at least…'
He turned towards the old lady who was staring back at him.
"Um, grandma…"
Before he could finish his sentence, the old lady asked, "Do you want those three beast tools?"
Leo was surprised but was then happy while thinking that he would be able to get three beast tools for free!
He nodded his head with excitement.
"Haha.", she laughed.
Leo laughed along with her, "Haha."
"I can only give you one for free though.", her expression changed almost immediately, from a bright and smiling face to a pretty much serious face.
"…"
